So NASL just released the details of their 3rd season. This was up on reddit, but I did not find anything on TL about it
http://www.nasl.tv/News/Article/20120329nasl-season-3-details
The most interesting thing is the "$150 prize pool for every match...on the line". This gives more incentives for players to have a good showing even if they are "knocked out".
What do you guys think about this
EDIT: Sorry, title should be season 3

The $150 prize pool for every match is a great idea. Very innovative.
But I wonder how it will be divided up. I really hope it's not $100 to the winner, $50 to the loser. I don't want to see someone potentially go 0-8 in group play and collect $400. I think winner take all is best. That gives an appropriate bonus for the winner and I don't think you should pay players just to show up and lose.

Cool feature, think it's a good idea to have some money on the line on each map. But I also think the winner should get all the money so the loosing players wont get 400 quick bucks just to show up.

Poll: How would you like to see the $150 per match distributed?Winner takes it all (148) 84% $100 for the winner / $50 for the loser (29) 16% 177 total votes Your vote: How would you like to see the $150 per match distributed? (Vote): $100 for the winner / $50 for the loser (Vote): Winner takes it all

they should have winner takes 100 dollars and loser gets nothing of course and whoever is top of there groups should get like a extra 500 or something so people try to win and not to get by
|
wow this actually sounds like a serious league now. After they release the roster, I might consider.
|
So are Korean teams actually gonna participate this time?
|
Or if 2-1, then 100/50, if 2-0, 150/0.
|
It should absolutely be winner takes all if their goal is to promote players taking each and every game seriously.

Sounds good.
I'd rather wait for the official announcement, can't wait to find out the groups and players.

Pretty sure by match they meant the whole Bo3 and not per game.
Anyways, what's with NASL saying there's only $100,000 prizepool? Season 3 was supposed to have $200,000. They announced $400,000 at the start of this league and while S1 and S2 would have $100,000 prize pools, S3 would have $200,000.
I guess NASL had to tap their prizepool to up their production again.

oh really? 200k would have been the biggest prize pool for any major SC2 tournament haha wow. NASL doesn't have the player calibre for that prize pool though. I'd rather see a Season 3 & 4 with $100k each rather than a season 3 with 200k. But i hope the money's put to good use (and that MKP can somehow destroy the open bracket, grab the final offline spot, and take a good slice of 100k to his own bank)

Seems kinda weird to me to have to offer incentives for players to actually show up and play their match

you are misunderstanding. it's not about getting players to show up, it is about keeping the games competitive.

Its probably a little about getting players to show up since near the end they either didnt show up or just played some stupid all-in build to protect there investment.

Mother of God, the prize pool for this tournament is enormous.
|
the german EPS had this for years, but in the end of WC3 the amount of money for each match was decreased. Maybe due to the fact that lots of players always stated something like this: "had no time to train", "didn`t train at all", "I don`t care about this match" etc.
Hopefully the scene has grown and will take this to further motivate themself and maybe it will encourage them to even prepare something special for every match/opponent. Best of Luck with it.

I don't see the point of doing the $150 per match if the winner gets all of it anyways. Isn't the point of it to basically give consolation to the loser? So you'd just be taking it away from them to begin with therefore nullify the extra (expensive) investment they put in to begin with.
