The thing that I didn't like about the original CoH was how low the food count seemed to be, though this is coming from someone who only played the single-player and random skirmishes vs AI. Plus, I used to be a C&C fan, so food counts have always been annoying for me. That'd make the game incredibly hard tho. I already had problems controlling all units somewhat decent with the current CoH foodcount. Upping it would require godly micro and multitasking... Or it'd just lead to players blobbing their units up creating the WW2 version of a Protoss deathball :S
Blobbing is a death sentence in CoH against any good player. Only time it works is when you have a significant number/weapon advantage over the other player at a certain area of the map, otherwise a good player will pretty much murder your blob in half a second.

They must have pretty hard snow in Russia if it is bulletproof enough to serve as cover. Cover is not only about stopping bullets. It hinders vision as well. And also, is water hard? No it isn't, does it stop bullets? Yes!

they played forever, huk destoryed them after playing only a few months, but huk was a total dick as was razor and bladed though, the coh community was pretty horrible tbh, full of wannabe progamers who were too bad to play BW, apart from Huk
is that jimmyraynor from GR? didn't you get banned on there for trolling and generally being a nuisance, lol

sounds great but it wont replace any other rts game for competitive play if it is anything like the first one (or the dow series plus dow 2)

It's a pretty awesome spectator experience though for Company of Heroes.
Few games are as visually stunning and have as much heroic "comeback" potential.

I remember so many of you from gr.org o.o
Hopefully coh2 brings back mp3 casting :D

Man, I just can't wait. Dawn of War 2 got a lot of support and two pretty good expansions, as far as I know. I loved the fact that it veered off the beaten RTS path. Relic is one of the few developers that actually manage to do something different without comprimising the quality of the game.

And didn't they release a relatively big balance patch for CoH about a year ago or something?
That's longer than most devs care about their games

I am not going to support relic ever again after the abomination called dawn of war 2, not to mention coh online.
That company should be put down for good.

There isn't too many high quality RTS games coming out so I'll definitely check this out.

THQ/Relic is not talking until May 7th about this. but, at least its confirmed.

Prediction. CoH2 will be to the franchise what C&C4 was to the C&C Franchise if THQ and Relic are still alive in 2013. I don't think THQ and Relic have the cash required to invest in a solid balanced multiplayer game with 2+ diverse factions. The single player might be good though.
when you buy a copy of the UK PCGamer magazine they throw in a free copy of the original CoH.

Way to blow shit out of proportion.
Dawn of War 2 was a decent game and what's the problem with CoH online? It got cancelled, so what?
|
CoH:Online was an experiment in microtransactions that failed because they tried to tack it onto the existing CoH gameplay instead of creating something entirely new. It was smart of them to kill it when they did.
The only thing that really worries me about CoH2 is the fact that the original CoH team hasn't been with Relic in a long time, and the products they released in Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor were lackluster compared to the original. As for worries about making the game harder, CoH is an extremely easy game relative to SC2, at least as far as mechanics are concerned. Multitasking is important, but is easily done with 50ish APM. Furthermore, the emphasis on strategy over mechanics allows mechanically weak players to succeed if their understanding of the game is superior.
I'd be all for Relic adding some mechanical gameplay into the mix, if only to give players more to focus on outside of the strategy.

This is pretty exciting news. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more information.

I just bought the series on steam, does anyone have any recommendations for starters? I played through the campaign of the first game already. I hit diamond on sc2, so I have a decent grasp on RTS.
|
Still need to try the first one. It's probably one of the few high profile games I've never even looked at (apart from watching Huk play it once on stream).
