1) The font you chose isn't friendly at all. Not fun to read. In webdesign Clarity > Cool-factor everyday of the week. 2) I assume based on the design that you wanted the template to fit snuggly into a browser (no scrolling), but it doesn't. Even when I hide my browser's toolbars, I still need to scroll to see the whole page. You could stand to lose some of the pit-o-darkness at the top. Just delete a few < p > tags and you'll be fine here. 3) What's with the animated buttons? Very distracting. Very unpleasant. They make the font choice even worse. Lose them for something that looks like it belongs. 4) I know the on-mouseover and on click thing is fun, but ask yourself if it really helps draw your visitors into the site. Those tricks take download time, so you risk alienating 56kers. Is it worth the extra download time? This is much less an issue than it was a few years ago, but it's still something to think about. 5) Many novices like to use a lot of theme colors on their webpages, but you seem to have a handle on how many you're allowed. Any more than 3 theme colors (in your case, blue, black and white) can be offensive to the eye. You done good with limiting yourself. However, dark blue and black are poor colors to match together. In less than ideal lighting, with glare on the monitor, or because of a users graphix card/settings, these colors can start to lose their distinctness. Consider choosing different colors. Seriously consider making the background a light color (some shade of off-white)... black backgrounds-- despite being ultra sexy-- are very hard to pull off. 6) I'm sure you realize this, but it's really the most important part of a website: YOU HAVE NO CONTENT! Get some! Stat! lol Nice first effort. Best of luck!

Buttons are horrible, take them away. Make a better background. Align the site completely to the left without the border. Maybe make it a bit lighter, and also make the text easier to read, perhaps by adding a bit more contrast. Don't use moving things unless you can do it in a nice and not disturbing manner. My experience includes working for a professional web design firm at the age of 15, and making tons of web pages in my spare time for 5-6 years.
