did the "Soviet Union" or USSR or 3-C-P-1 or whatever it was called exist in 1941?
Yes, Soviets had border problems with Poland and Finland, they wanted to solve them + they didnt want war with germany so they were in pact, they didnt rape Eastern europe nor those countries, they were just part of invasion(Winter war with finland is different story tho...it goes way back and basicly is unrelated to nazi/communists)
They didn't rape and pillage Eastern Europe? Really? T______T

It depends about year. I dont have anything good to say about Soviets in 1939, and I still think that liberation of Poland was rather side efect of soviet will to beat and burrow nazis, not of their kindness, but my grandfathers says that in 1944-1945 soviet army in Poland was not much hostile towards the Poles. Even watching the destruction of Warsaw in 1944 cant be seen as a soviet crime, becouse AK was not a formal ally of the USSR and there was no duty of the Soviets to save Warsaw Uprising. We can see this as a dick move, but we cant blame them for no action (we did exacly the same thing to Denikin in 1919).

Thats ok, I thouth that we are talking about ww2 as "I dont have anything good to say about Soviets in 1939". Besides you dont have to remind me Katyn, everybody in out country knows about that.

Red Army was very brutal and abusive during the '44-'45 period, too.

Instead they went for a MOBA style expansion and a microtransaction based game, ignoring that WW2 is the least casual theme ever. Now they have to hold the weight of the sequel with soviets, which pretty much no one likes.
Serious? lol. Sure.
Personally, I'm disappointed they stuck with WWII. I've always thought CoH could have been amazing in a cold war or modern setting with helicopters and gunship call-ins etc. If they're still in the 40's, though, nobody's more awesome than Russia.
Been hearing rumours about this for a while, glad to see its confirmed. Aboslutely loved the first game. Multiplayer was a bit hit and miss, matchmaking wasnt great (as much about player numbers as the system), some things were glaringly imbalenced (Kangeroo carriers anyone?) and those matches where one player just sat somewhere hard to get spamming arty/nebelwerfers/walking stukas made me want to cry. The singleplayer experience was top notch, as was some of the other modes (op stonewall is fun as hell) Also how CoH ran on my old peice of shit pc (2.0GHz songle core, 256MB shit graphics card) on decent settings without dropping framerate in huge battles still makes no sense to me. That game looked amazing and took less resources than iTunes, lets hope the new one is as optimised.
But it's the cold that defines Company of Heroes 2. The Eastern Front was the site of the biggest, bloodiest battles of the Second World War, and the Russian winter played a particular role in that. "There were many cases in the winter of 1941 where the temperatures got to minus-40 Fahrenheit," Duffy tells me. "With the wind and the blowing snow, it's going to feel like minus-60, and exposed flesh will freeze in a matter of minutes under those conditions. So exposure to the weather is a critical component of the cold tech system."
The poor, doomed Russian conscript squad is Duffy and McDermott's introductory course on the capricious nature of what the Russian forces referred to as "General Winter." This goes beyond more limited visibility or a different coat of paint — snow and cold had an effect on just about every tactical consideration in the level I was shown. Deep snow slows infantry down, blizzards cause them to freeze to death more quickly, and shelter has become even more important. Combat engineers are also indispensable given their ability to "stage" the battlefield, setting up life-saving fires, which in turn are a necessity for entrenched infantry units like mortar crews and machine gun teams.
"We want our infantry units to always be viable, to try to make sure all the units in the game have strategies and viabilities as the game progresses," Duffy says. "So there's things like capturing and holding buildings, and you still need infantry for that. But what cold does is that it encourages different unit roles."
Yeah. I'm hoping it's like Warcraft 3's day/night cycle, so players can expect a blizzard and prepare the battlegrounds accordingly. Losing half my infantry because a blizzard randomly occured while they were on the offensive just isn't good multiplayer.
Company of Heroes 2 has rolled out its tiered pre-order goals on Steam, each of which will unlock a new level of free stuff for everyone who shells out for the Eastern Front rumble. Just for pre-ordering, you’re guaranteed beta access and two medium vehicle skins (one for the Russkies, and one for the Germans). Three more unlockable tiers will be added if enough people pre-order the game.
At the first reward tier (specific numbers for how many pre-orders are needed to unlock each one aren’t given), everyone gets a German and a Soviet hat for Team Fortress 2. The second tier adds a free copy of Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 2′s stand-alone Retribution expansion. The third and final tier unlocks an “In-Game currency gift to be used towards purchasing future content,” an XP boost, a unit boost, and a new commander archetype.
This is the first we’ve heard of CoH2 having any sort of in-game currency system, and xp/unit boosts sound similar to the kinds of things you can buy in free-to-play multiplayer RTS games like Age of Empires Online. They’re also reminiscent of the canceled Company of Heroes Online, and it would be unsurprising to find that some ideas from that project have been rolled into this sequel. It seems like a persistent commander leveling system in multiplayer has been all but confirmed.
THQLynx: Relax you guys. This is not pay 2 win. Just because we're not ready to talk about MP features does NOT mean we've made a WWII themed league of legends. The stuff we're giving away with pre-order are cosmetic. Tank skins. SKINS. This sort of stuff does not impact the gameplay at ALL.
I can confirm that none of the ‘player boosts’ mentioned in the Steam tiered reward program will provide any competitive advantage in Player-vs-player combat.
Seriously, just relax. Everyone complaining all over the internet are acting like all the press and community people who have actually played CoH2 have lied about their experiences. Relic is still making the true successor to CoH. nothing about that has changed.
