There are slow movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the equator hundreds of millions of years ago) see evidence; at one time Russia was temperate grassland supporting wooly mammoths etc, then all of a sudden it seemed as if they were all flash frozen. how many intact flash frozen carcasses of mammoth's are there in russia? a ridiculous amount, some with flash frozen grasses in their mouths. Clearly something sudden happened otherwise so many carcasses wouldn't be preserved, and mammoths wouldn't be able to eat grasses from a frozen tundra as it is today so its not like they would hang around were there is no food. therefore pole shifts exist. Wooly mammoths did not evolve to live on temperate grasslands. You don't grow a fucking thick wooly hide to live at 10 degrees celsius, you grow a fucking thick wooly hide to survive at temperatures between -20 and 5 degrees celsius. The mammoths evolved for a series of ice ages. In fact, part of the extinction of mammoths is actually being blamed on the climate warming up, rather than cooling down. Your logic is incredibly stupid and misinformed. how does that explain so many preserved carcases? the temperatures warming up or being around 5 degrees Celsius would mean no where near as many preserved carcases as there are. why would the Earth changing its rotational direction cause flash freezing in a region of Russia? Your argument doesn't make any sense. where did you get earth rotation? im talking pole shift. it is wide known that at one time north america particularly canada was one giant glacier, maybe that was because the north pole used to be over canada, which would make russia a more temperate northerly grass land. then said pole shift happens putting the north pole where it is today bringing with it brutally cold temperatures to russia, flash freezing the mammoths and other critters that were found frozen solid. magnetic poles and the earths rotation/axis dont have anything to do with one another (in terms of climate anyway, I think the center portion of the earth rotating/flowing causes the magnetic fields right? ). Its not like magnetic north instantly becomes cold lol that has to do with the tilt of the axis of the earth And if the Earth's axis of rotation changed significantly enough to move the geographic north pole, we'd have bigger problems than Canada getting colder.
Nothing is going to happen. Big whoop if the Mayan calendar ends; ours ends every Dec. 31st, and we don't worry that that's going to end the world.

Hmm.. when the world doesn't end is this the best place to gloat and rub it in peoples faces that they are morons?... or is there a more populated thread on some website where I can do this?

Don't worry, there's going to be another date that people will get all crazy preparing for once Dec. 22 comes to the last time zone an nothing happens. (isn't the next end-day in 2034 or something?)
That said, my crowbar will be laying beside my bed tonight.. the best weapon for the zombie invasion that's going to happen at midnight.

*opens another beer* Gentlemen, it's been a pleasure. I have 5 hours to live, or 5 hours to live comfortably before fighting for my life and ending up blind and making numerous biblical references like in the Book of Eli

We've met with a terrible fate, haven't we?

One of my favorite quotes of all time.
On topic: Worlds not gonna end, but I know 2 people going to remote locations to wait it out -_- some people... lol.

I just hope if the world ends we get some advanced notice (I mean other than that whole Mayan prediction lol). Basically, if I know the world's ending it'd be nice to blow my savings traveling the world or something.

Hope is the first step in the road of disappointment.
