So in that case, what is it reduced by? Magic resist or Armor?

Magic damage is always reduced by magic resist. Physical damage is always reduced by armor. It doesn't matter what stats the skill scales off, only what type of damage it does.

I've never bought skins before, if I buy skin of champions which I don't have, can I play that champion, or I have to buy the champion before getting skins?

For example I couldn't build Bloodthirster in 3v3? :o Most items are shared between all maps/game modes, but there are a few that aren't buildable in each.\ For a few examples, Overlord's Bloodmail is a Twisted Treeline-specific item, Bloodthirster is only purchaseable on Summoner's Rift (and is replaced by Sanguine Blade on the other maps), and Wooglet's Witchcap is found in Dominion and Twisted Treeline. The list of items at the bottom of this page: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Item will tell you what maps each can be purchased on.

Background: Playing ~10 months. Silver II mid main supp sub. Haven't really done anything to actively get better. I tried it once before on my own, but had no idea how to get LeagueReplay to work (I wasn't in the mood to tinker with it at the time, so I gave up after five seconds or so). Is it worth trying a second time? Is there a consistent and reliable source (or sources) for replays? Streaming tournament matches is too annoying and limited severely by whoever's working the camera. Are there any super in-depth guides out there I should know about? For instance, with lane matchups, LoLCounter's comment section really isn't the most valuable resource, but from what I've found, that's the best there is. ...these questions at least seem general and simple enough to be posting here. If I'm wrong... well, hey.

There's an outdated and unfinished thread here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=308137 but a lot of the information in it is still applicable. if you're curious about a particular champion's matchups, ask in the champ thread. You can also get maybe a few posts from the GD if you're lucky, before its collective attention returns to Heart of Gold or Soul of Silver.

I can't even think of any good reasons as to why they haven't added such a function yet. if you're curious about a particular champion's matchups, ask in the champ thread. Matchups are one thing, but I'm thinking more fundamentals. I'm Silver II, so I guess we can assume I've got some gist of how to be a mid player, but my LoLKing stats suck and all that. Gotta figure out, for instance, how people can manage 300cs per game when I'm only getting to 220 at the best and ~150 on average. So, I guess my simple questions for now will be: 1) How to I into CS? 2) Who are some mid players to watch streams/VODs of? By the by, I main Orianna and Ahri mid. Subs being Lux, Chog, Kayle, and Diana in that order. Thanks for the help, guys.

I am now level 20, and I have heard that the best runes, tier 3, are available at level 20. So....I am ABSOLUTELY a newbie when it comes to runes...I do not understand a single thing....red/blue/yellow/quintessences...those terms confuse me so much... What is the first step I need to take to understand runes? Any help appreciated, thanks guys

What is the first step I need to take to understand runes? Any help appreciated, thanks guys Quintessences are the strongest and most expensive. They can fit any role. Marks are for offensive stats such as magic penetration, armor penetration, attack speed, ad and so on. Seals are defensive: scaling health, armor, sometimes mana regen. The most important ones are armor. Glyphs are for magic stuff: scaling magic resist, scaling ability power ( sometimes ) I think if you play many different roles it is best to start with some armor seals and scaling magic resist glyph since they are common on different lanes. If you play lots of ad then u can take arpen marks, if you play mage, get some mpen marks. If you play support a lot then get Gold per ten Quintessences While it is possible to buy runes of each type for each stat it is recommended to respect the different types because runes of the wrong type give a lot less stats. For instance. armor marks suck, you need Seals if you want armor. Attack damage glyphs suck, you need Marks or Quintessences if you want armor. Summarize: Quintessence - the big ones - anything Marks - the red ones - offense Seals - the yellow ones - defense ( armor ) Glyphs - the blue ones - magic ( scaling magic resist, scaling ability power ) Runes that 'scale' have increased stats per level. 'Flat' runes have fixed stats. Runes usually intersect at level 9, above level 9 scaling runes are better and below level 9 flat runes are better. If you post your role and champ I can give a more specific example.

Marks (Red) Seals (Yellow) Glyphs (Blue) and Quintessences (brown/purple). On your runepage, there are slots available for runes. A new rune slot is available each summoner level, up to the maximum at summoner level 30 (9 Mark slots, 9 Seals, 9 Glyphs, and only 3 Quints) Each of these rune categories is "better" at certain types of stats, we'll get to that in more detail later. When you buy runes, you make those runes available to your runepages. You can use a single rune once each on multiple different runepages, but if you want to have 9 of the same rune on a runepage then you need 9 copies of that rune. You never need more than 9 copies of a Mark/Seal/Glyph, or 3 copies of a Quintessence. Marks are "better" at damage. Commonly used Marks include Attack Damage, Armor Penetration, Magic Penetration, Hybrid Penetration, and Attack Speed. Supports often use Armor (this is an "off-spec" stat for Marks: you only get 0.9 Armor from a mark as opposed to 1.3 from a Seal.) Seals are "better" at defense and regen. Armor seals are by far the most commonly used, but Scaling Mana Regen, Scaling health, and GP10 seals are occasionally seen. (Especially in draft mode, when you are facing a team with very very few sources of physical damage.) Glyphs are "better" at magic and magic defense. Magic Resist (Flat or Scaling) are probably the most commonly seen of these, followed by Ability Power (again, both flat or scaling) and rarely, Scaling Mana Regen (off-spec, you get slightly less here than from Seals.) Quintessences are the most versatile, they are not "specialized" like the other three. They also have certain options not available to other runes. Common quintessence choices are: Attack Damage Ability Power Movement Speed Gold per 10 Armor Magic Resistance For your first two runepages, it's advisable to make some pages that have very wide use. Here's 2 very good pages which you could use well on nearly any champion. Physical Champions: All Attack Damage Marks (205 IP each) All Armor Seals (205 IP each) All Magic Resist Glyphs (205 IP each) All Attack Damage Quintessences (1025 IP each) Magic Champions: All Magic Penetration Marks (410 IP each) All Armor Seals (same as above) All Magic Resist Glyphs (same as above) All Ability Power Quintessences (1025 IP each) At summoner level 20, you have 6 slots each for Marks, Seals, and Glyphs, and 2 Quintessences. Remember that these recommended Seals and Glyphs are the same for both page, so you only need to get 6 of these.

1. I am looking at the rune page now at the store. I see one of them says "Greater quintessence of attack damage" and gives 2.25 AD. Now, is this the "best" there is? Or will there be some other quintessences that give maybe, for example, 3 AD or even 4 AD? Basically how do I know that 2.25 AD is the best one available? Same goes for quintessence of critical. it gives 1.86% critical chance, but how do I know this is the best one, and there is no better one that gives? This is suspicious since the number is 1.86% lol not even numbers. 2. Could someone please check, I went to physical damage runes, ticked that option, and there is a total of..... 24 runes in this page? EDIT: Thanks for that clear concise answer, which brought me yet another question. 3. You mentioned: "Marks are "better" at damage. Supports often use Armor (this is an "off-spec" stat for Marks: you only get 0.9 Armor from a mark as opposed to 1.3 from a Seal.)" What do you mean by "better"? And regarding that "off-spec", why don't supports just use yellow runes (armor)? Why use marks to get armor, when you will clearly get more armor by using yellow runes?

And regarding that "off-spec", why don't supports just use yellow runes (armor)? Why use marks to get armor, when you will clearly get more armor by using yellow runes? 1 - Tier 3 runes are always "Greater" runes and always the best available in the game, for that rune type and stat. Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage is the highest attack damage you get from a quintessence. There's only 1 kind of Tier 3 rune of each Stat and Runetype (Scaling AD would be considered a 'different' stat in this case.) 2 - That sounds right, but remember this is also going to include "off spec" runes (For example, if you look at blue Attack Damage rune, it will only give 0.28 AD, as opposed to 0.95 AD from a Mark.) as well as runes that are very rarely used (Increased critical damage, scaling attack damage) 3 - When supports use Armor on Marks, they are usually ALSO getting armor in seals, allowing them for greater total armor than just from seals. Efficiency of "off-spec" runes varies, armor marks are "pretty close" to armor seals. It's not even unheard of for someone to run an ENTIRE RUNEPAGE of +Armor runes or +MR runes (Fuck you, LeBlanc.) They might also be getting something else in seals which would be even worse to get on Marks, like mana regen.

Now...I just want to confirm. Is it true that flat AD rune is better early, wheres Armor penetration is better mid and late game?
