My question is: what are the plans for the EG house and EG's players? This is a bit surprising considering the recent WCS announcement and the idea that there would be more and not fewer NA team houses. Maybe you should explain more in the OP... is their house closing or what?
They are opening something new in the SF Bay area. Idra just moved out there and has his own apartment. So yes, the Arizona house will be closing down eventually once they get everything figured out in the bay.

If they are living literally in San Francisco, they have to have something setup, otherwise it's a really weird decision. The costs of living in SF are absurdly high and even living around SF is very expensive. Maybe if there is some LAN-related thing, it might make sense.
I'm interested to see what it is that made them move their team house to such an expensive area.

the problem with gamers are sometimes they don't really understand the economic values behind their decisions. bay area is hella expensive.
i sense idra is smart enough to know whats up.

I'm interested to see what it is that made them move their team house to such an expensive area. Maybe they want to live alone?! It's pretty hard to live with other people together nonstop for several weeks (exception:girl-/boyfrind). I had left this environment after ~3weeks because I sometimes just need the calm for me personally.

i live in SF Bay Area, and have a guest room. they can come here! on the condition that they play 2v2 with me so that I can be no. 1 2v2 team in world.....

Idra did a q&A on his stream earlier. He said that everyone will be moving out to the bay area to establish a new team house/studio type thing. But Idra himself is living with his GF in an apartment whoever she is lol.

Why do you think the EG players are making the decision and not the management?

I think Root talked about moving there too so it would form a NA central esports hub with Blizzard, EG, and Root all there. Should really have picked a less expensive place.

As a resident of the South SF Bay Area I am really happy to see more eSports centralized here!!! Yes it is an expensive place to live but there are a lot of perks to be in such a tech-y area (e.g. better access to good internet like Demu and a few others have mentioned). Excited to see where this goes and I'm sure this decision has been well thought through by EG management.
Gratz and Welcome to Team EG

I wouldn't quite call a singlular team in one game moving to a region the "centralization of esports"

Hopefully other teams move into the region.

I don't know what is better, people theory crafting about the cost of living or Incontrol mocking these peopled on on twitter. I am sure none of them for there and were like "OH FUCK SHIT COSTS BANK!!! WHAT HAVE WE DONE!?!?!"

That's part of what I was asking, actually. I agree with the general sentiment going around the thread that living in SF is extremely expensive.

Its only expensive if you can't afford it..

Why does blizzard's location keep getting brought up in these types of discussions. I don't see why Blizzard being close by would help anything in anyway.

Does EG have a Teamhouse in Europe? (not familliar with the EG-LoL Scene) If so, is it in Cologne?

Catz has said on State of the Game that he wants to open a team house for Root in that general region, so hopefully we'll see that happen in the future.

This is not complicated and I cannot believe how many people seem to be missing the point.
Cost of living in California is more, OK. EG sees value in being in California rather than AZ... so according to their cost-benefit analysis, its worth it to live in the bay area. Why? Bay area is the home of the computer industry. Close contact with tons of potential sponsors. If you think there is no value in moving to California, then maybe you should start your own eSports organization and show them how to run a business properly.

I actually think this is a really good move since it moves them closer to EG staff. That said, I wonder how much this will tax them on the monetary end. Of course it is more expensive, but I guess time will tell if the move was good or not. As of now I'm inclined to say it is.
