With STX pretty much taking over CTU, only Woongjin and Samsung remain teams without LoL squads. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them picked up ESG (former SKT T1 #1). The only downside to this is that SC2 may be demoted to Special Force status in terms of Proleague pecking order. Yeah this is what I'm thinking too. With Team8 financial situaion still unknown, I doubt Kespa can have 2 brand new teams forming. We may see IM and MVP joining Kespa. There're so many teams out there that don't have sponsors. Other Kespa teams can easily pick those up and start from there.

Free to play with skins sell seems to be working pretty well for Riot. I think it has to do with blizzard shitty Bnet (seriously its such a hassle to make a game/join channel/ make a private game) and how socially dead bnet .2 is. The ball on ball action also adds a bit to it too.

Broodwar was the only popular game for years with little competition from other developers. Now we have starcraft 2, dota2, and lol. I think LOL is taking away viewers who would normally be watching sc2. Tbh though, BW was The King at the right time. Game genre, infrastructures, knowledge were so underdeveloped at that time. We didn't even have concept about internet gaming, or massive multiplayer games. If MOBA/ARTS games such as Dota, LoL had existed the same time as BW 10 years ago, I doubt BW would have been the king of Korea.

SC2 was already knocked off from prime time. That's not really news. I was waiting to hear about a PL for LoL and what do you know that day has come. This League will have a lot more meat to it compared to the current incarnation. Still waiting to see what happens with T8 and all the other teams with a cloud hanging over their heads.

I wonder if they are going to be in PL with their SC2 squads or if they are going to stay with GSTL.

I guess Proleague is... proleague where all player in the same team play as a team like Battle Royal tournament. It means that, for example MVP Blue and Ozone, will combine both their roster of 10+ players, and switch players at the begining of each match to change up strategies (players can just focus on training couple of champions and apply couple of strategies) Champions are not really a league, it's more like tournaments than leagues. I guess Proleague will only for Kespa team, while Champions will be open tournaments, where other teams, such as Startale, or foreign teams, can compete through the qualifiers.

Hope it's gonna be MVP/LG aka likely 2 more teams to Sc2 PL'14. Startale & FXO better follow the trend (but I read somewhere that FXO is actually going for Dota) FXO has both LoL and Dota 2 teams

Here you go: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=414741 And you can see back in 2008, BW was only #4: http://www.gametrics.com/news/News02_View.aspx?seqid=4384 You can see other months here: http://www.gametrics.com/news/News02_List.aspx And remember this was before LoL was out and BW only accounts for 6% in PC bang play time, and this number has been like this for a long time, but LoL currently accounts for 40% and has been like this for a while. It's absurdly popular and much much more popular than BW.

Surely a high percentage of Pro Koreans would've have switched to Starcraft 2 keeping the player base and viewer base the same to the new game. If you think SC2 is not as popular as BW was because of some "noob friendliness" you're really mistaken. Difficulty of a game has nothing to do with it's success.
