Need some advice. So, right now I'm entering 11 weeks of lifting 5 times a week for football offseason. Always cheated offseason by playing other sports nad lived at home for free food but know I live on my own.
Need tips for food that is cheap, easy to make (microwave, sometimes frying pan) and will help me put on muscle.

spaghetti and sloppy joes are pretty easy to make

some ideas: - canned tuna/salmon - cheap cuts of pork; you can actually microwave this lol. it won't taste that great, but add a bit of sriracha, hot sauce, or other sauce/condiment and it's a cheap way to get protein - ground beef; toss this in the frying pan with a big bag of mixed greens, microwaveable - chicken thighs and drumsticks; if you have a pot, just boil these suckers with whatever spices, herbs, or marinade you choose - white rice; imo worth getting a cheap rice cooker for rice. you can make a lot, put extras in the fridge, and eat this with whatever meat and veggies youre making. - potatoes and sweet potatoes are both can satisfy your carb needs and are microwaveable (google for instructions) - frozen veggies (spinach, kale, broccoli, carrots, peas, etc) are microwaveable if youre in a hurry, or you can panfry them for better taste. put some butter or olive oil on them for taste and calories - big bag of frozen mixed berries, cuz you need a cheap, convenient, easy way to get your fruit
or simplify your life and get a crockpot, and just throw everything in there, press a button, and you don't have to worry about actually cooking lol.

There, high protein is known to put stress on the kidneys. This has been well documented. Also note how animal protein is the main problem. You can supplement with brown rice protein and be fine.
Also, you can get huge and be very strong without cooked animal meat.
Germany's strongest man is a vegan and he's huge and as strong as hell.

Okay, so TLDR you believe everything you read on the internet despite what the national nutritional guidelines say, and you go against the advice of Dr's and cardiologists a long with nutritionists.
Got it.
Also, according to those studies you can eat all of the greasy bacon and eggs that you want and it would be heart healthly.
Please also show me some demography of people that are known to have the longest life expectancy on a meat based diet.
Following a diet based around what cavemen ate (most of which who would be considered lucky to make it to age 16) is so silly that I find it funny that such a diet even exists as it makes no logical sense.
Someone can live off of snickers bars for 20+ years but that doesn't mean it's optimal.
We live in modern times when we know that cholesterol is bad, animal protein is bad, and that eating more nutrient dense food's that are lower in calories and are foods that come directly from the earth such as greens are the best foods on the planet and such a diet will let you live 40%-50% longer if not more than the general population because you're hitting your micro nutrient needs and eating low cal due to eating foods with less fat in them that are already low in calories.
This is why those in certain parts of Asia have such a high lief expectancy eating brown rice, legumes, and other plant based foods that are low in fat yet according to the Paleor's these people should have heart disease and other diseases because grains and legumes are "bad" compared to greasy animal foods.

Doctors have no place giving solid nutritional advice. Cardiologists either, as far as I know. If you were even around the medical field at all, you would know this.
The only thing to trust are studies, and even then very carefully.
The human body is a science. If you're not going to post scientific material, then your argument has no base. Simply saying "40-50% longer" has no merit. Lets see the studies that say that. Lets see the studies that say animal protein is bad, cholesterol is bad, greens are the end all be all. Lets see recent ones (5 years maximum).
I don't see why you are still arguing. You obviously don't want to change your mind or at least look at the evidence. Ieatkids posted 10+ studies, while you rely on here-say, one of the most dangerous routes to take in the medical field.

turning vegan after you built your muscles and doing a PR stunt nobody had bothered before in a capped weight class is not being the strongest man in germany because you are a vegan (it is a great feat though)

In the single piece of evidence that you could find on all of google it says plain as day that there is no association between high protein intake and decline in kidney function in people with normal kidney function. It's in the fucking abstract. Do you bother to read what you post?
You link a man who started bodybuilding in his teens and only went vegan in 2011 after spending the majority of his life eating meat and lots of it. You only prove that it's nearly impossible to build such a body without eating meat.
You are either an idiot or a troll. Probably both, since it's weird that you cite the government guidelines for nutrition and health and praise cardiologists' recommendations in the same breath, despite previously denouncing doctors and the government for hawking ADHD medications.

Lol that is hilarious. In the study Sj linked, it says this right in the first paragraph:
We found that among women with mildly reduced kidney function - about 25 percent of individuals in our study - a higher-protein diet may lead to accelerated decline in kidney function compared with a lower-protein diet."
Anyway, on to my question. I don't usually drink orange juice, only on the weekends when I have time to eat a proper breakfast, but do the artificially added calcium/vitamin D and other minerals/vitamins actually get absorbed by the bloodstream with efficiently? I've heard that there's very little absorption of the calcium when you drink OJ that's artificially enhanced with it, but I am not sure about the Vitamin D and I can't seem to find any studies from recent years about calcium/Vitamin D fortified orange juice.
|
The vitamin D is probably a small dose anyway. Should be shooting for like 5-10k IU. So I wouldn't use oj as your primary source.

I'm sorry but I have enough critical thinking skills to know that greasy bacon, eggs, and other fatty foods a long with other foods higher up on the food chain are bad for your body and make your blood thicker.
No "study" will convince me to think otherwise as common sense would tell you that fatty foods and oils will just thicken your blood and are bad for you a long with the fact that foods lower on the food chain are the best for you as they are more pure.
As far as I'm concerned all of the studies he posted a long with the Paleo diet is just a conspiracy or scheme to keep people eating the way they already are in America to keep people sick.

I don't see how it's funny since anyone can have reduced kidney function without even knowing it not to mention it is well known that a high protein intake can cause kidney problems.
For optimal kidney health almost anyone would recommend an average protein intake, definitely not high.

Go read the China Study or other research that has been done and read what the National Heart Association has to say on diet instead of random people on the internet. His 10 studies are internet studies and are bullshit. Hahahaha

You need to brush up on some science SJP. You seem to think that digestion works via a kind of lipid osmosis.
High protein doesn't cause kidney damage. There is no evidence to suggest that it does.

Serious question SJP: would tigers live longer on a plant-based diet too? Wouldn't they be better off with "pure" plant foods that don't have fats or cholesterol?
|
even doctors (that sjp says he listens to) agree that dietary cholesterol has little or nothing to do with blood cholesterol.
