Strangely, Mvp is the only one that know that consistently loses and puts out bad results and yet I feel like all it does is build up his legacy in a good wya solidifying as the underdog King. He feels like the weakest and the strongest player we've ever had. Al losing does is make us think he's done now, but then we remember who he was, who he is and you just can't help but think he could still beat the shit out of any one of these Gods if we gave him enough preparation. and the right conditions. so winning 9 major tournaments is building your legacy through losing? It's more like when we see someone like Sniper/Roro/Nestea/DRG/MMA fall of the community all become negative about their chances to ever come back. Mvp loses and then we see him in the next tournament and you just can't help but think, "Yea, Mvp should lose. But he's Mvp. He can still win." MMA came back I'm still quite impressed with this but like you said, he lost to a non-Naniwa/Scarlett foreigner in his last tournament

And keep in mind Curious ZvT might be the best in the world, top 5 for sure.

Won 9 tournaments and lost like 30 others! That's a pretty good fucking ratio One of the best in SC2.

And so has DRG and Roro. Though not nearly to the same extent as MMA. MMA is one of those few players who reached the height of the competition, fell off and then climbed his way back to the top.
