Awesome. I think this is the first time Blizz has hired a current active player of any their games for a full time position development position?

If Blizzard risked the conflict of interest in allowing their employees to play in tournaments for their games, we'd be seeing Dayvie in all the North American qualifiers for SC2 events. Yea you're entirely right about this. It would not make sense for Blizzard even if there's 99.99% chance nothing happens. Glad to see Realz land this job it can only be good for Hearthstone to have an ex-pro involved with the game design. Not that I know of either. Not in BW nor in SC2, and I'm not really sure there are other strategy games where players would have been classified as pros before ~2008.

There have been a few. They hired Iksar for HS design, Lothar and Merlin (from WC3mods) for campaign development/design, missing_tooltip (known for Skibi's TD) for campaign development/design, a couple D2 community modders for D3 (for the first iteration of D3, I'm not sure if they stayed on for the re-design) and probably a number of others I'm not aware of.

How is it NOT? especially in a card game. Having the advantage of knowing what cards come out, their mechanics, MONTHS before they come out is HUUUUUUUUUUGE. Even telling his friends would be big. Reynad also discussed this on his stream last night saying that blizzard shouldnt allow him to play, since MTG designers are not allowed to play either.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious about the point. Why does it matter if you know future cards, in current games? Could you explain?

Could you explain? simple, you can theorycraft decks earlier, refine them earlier, know the top decks earlier(invent decks). You can load HS cards onto 3rd party programs and actually play the decks out if you have practice partners(like apprentice or cocktrice) The advantage would be unreal.
