Big money just may go hand in hand with serious for an investing enthusiast like Scarlett (in addition to every other person ever). I believe what you meant to say was "A game doesn't need lots of funding to be serious."
Yours is an issue of perspective. Perhaps not serious to you is serious to someone else. Your feelings on whether or not DOTA2 is a serious game are opinions; so are Scarlett's. So, if you think it's silly then fine, you like mustard. If she thinks it's serious (we don't even know that she does), then fine, she likes ketchup. If I were you, I would stop telling someone who likes ketchup to like mustard instead; that's not a good way to live life.
Also, isn't this a fanclub? I definitely think that some criticism and concern is healthy, but maybe we should consider the old adage "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all" before hitting the post button.

I think fans can express disappointment in Scarlett's decisions of late; to retire; to play DotA2 etcI mean that is part of the psychological attribution of being a fan. Some people in this fanclub are fan's of "Scarlett", that is that they will follow Scarlett as fans where-ever she intends to go or do that is in some way public (It would be creepy and weird if Fans started showing up in her College classes; fcking weirdos). Other fans, are fans of Scarlett-as an SC2 player, and so when she starts showing interests in quitting the game or playin other games, they no longer feel that bond that they once did, and often times (whether its a legitimate feeling or not) feel betrayed by her for choosing something else.
Now, it is under all circumstances a legitimate disappointment that these fans may have. You can not expressly say "Well its her decision" because that is not what factors into them as being fans. A die-hard fan of Scarlett's would accpet to the proposal that "It is her decision' but a fan of Scarlett-as-SC2-Player would not accept that because they only are fans of Scarlett because she is an SC2 player.
The debate between Xtorn and SetGuitarsToKill, as stupidly retarded it was (and yes, it was stupidly retarded...on both sides) was a legitimate debate which unveiled some really key points of contention within this fanclub. Furthermore a Die-hard fan is not more of a fan of Scarlett's then a Scarlett-as-SC2-player Fan, they are just different in how they approach their fandom.
People should be able to express their disappointment as fans. They should be able to say "Hey, as a Fan, I don't really enjoy the direction you are taking" and at the end of the day, that is just as legitimate as Scarlett saying "Well, I don't really enjoy SC2 anymore, I'm gonna try something else" because none of these positions are based in any epistemic notion of truth...they are merely opinions bought about my emotional connections, or the severing of emotional connections.
Y'all need to calm down, defenders of Scarlett's decision, as well as those who are critical of her decision, and just respect each other's opinion; even if you don't especially like what the other person is saying. Unless the person is being rude and obnoxious...What do you do then? You fuck that person up as much as possible.
Anyway, I'm trying to finish my first chapter for my thesis, and this is just me occupying the beautiful position of procrastinator.
Thank you guys for sharing your points of view and thoughtful arguments, I do appreciate it.
"I believe what you meant to say was "A game doesn't need lots of funding to be serious.""
What I meant is : there is High Serious : Go, Chess, Poker, SC2, K-1, the best Lumpini Stadium Muay Thai Contests (in Thai, in Bangkok), MMA etc.
They're elite sports and they're A Way. It's why I love SC2 (I also practice boxing and Muay Thai and other martial arts). It's why I immediately had started hating Warcraft 3 after first having seen it - it does not fall in this High Serious category. It's not a Way, you don't Develop (as a personality or I don't know how to word it right) practicing it. The same thing is with all the MMORPG (did I spell it correct?) and bunch of other stuff.
Still, Scarlett is a Wonder, I love her, let she enjoy her time beating DOTA kiddos and earning $ millions! And my offers to her are actual
I can help her with Russian also - I'm a professional linguist Indo-Europeanist, I know Russian very well (and it's one of my mother tongues - in the first place).
It's all , of course, my take on things, my humble opinion etc.

I'm a fan, but I'll wait for your return to SC:LOTV or some other serious game.
DOTA is... I can't even speak about it. It's an entertainment, not a serious thing. SC is Serious.
Love you, if you want to visit and see Sri Lanka (Maldives are so near) or Germany PM me
Game with the biggest pro-gaming prize pool in history = "not a serious thing"
Couldn't resist
it's just an entertainment, fun stuff for kiddos, who don't have other things to do, and/because whose parents are pretty rich. Of course there is much money there.
And you call yourself a fan of Scarlett? Thats pretty nice. Also DOTA is 100% F2P, while SC2 is a $60 game with every expansion. HOW can you say that Dota is for rich kids, i just cant even...
Big money =/= serious. Chess is serious, Go (围棋) is serious, Poker is serious, SC2 is serious. MMA, amateur/professional boxing, K1 (Kick-boxing), various Karate systems etc are serious. "National lotteries" with crazy hundred millions winning pools = crap.
So if Starcraft suddenly got much bigger winning prizes, it would become a "National lottery" crap? The level of elitism in your comments is just mind blowing. If you really wanna do starcraft a favour just stop acting like your favorite game is superior to any other game in everyway, ITS NOT. Starcraft has already become the butt of the joke in other communities for having incredibly salty, defensive, Napoleon complex having, elitist fans.

devote much time = don't have other things to do = live comfortably = rich parents (mostly)
"So if Starcraft suddenly got much bigger winning prizes, it would become a "National lottery" crap?"
WTF, you're SO twisting my word s around?
And yes, Starcraft is An Elite Intellectual Game, I will defend this thesis till my last breath passes. And I don't care what "other communities" say. I played Q3 and CS (and personally know some pro-gamers (who are quite old now though ) and quickly achieved impressive results just because I've got good reaction and map understanding. It's little more than just reflexes. SC is on the other level.
You could've simply just said that you don't like it, instead you had to hop on your high horse and herpaderp all over the place. I don't know if you realize how full of yourself you sound.

maybe you should watch Free To Play, a documentary about three well known pro Dota players. I don't think you can say that any of them were living comfortably with rich parents.
get your head out of your ass, after you hop off that high horse
lol , it doesn't matter, EN MASSE dota is a nicey gamey for masses of wealthy Amero-European and Asian kiddos. It doesn't require high intelligence and exceptional skills, talents, very strong discipline, incredible effort etc.
And go **** yourself etc , sugars Love u !
And additionally I don't even care for what you uneducated parent-dependent kiddos say xD.
I can meet everyone who wanna argue with me on the boxing ring
I don't mind being "full of myself" - I'm a (quite) young Ph.D, know many languages, run some interesting projects, practice martial arts, develop myself etc ^^.

It sucks that you deleted your reddit profile so I could show everyone how crazy you are, though I think they've gotten it from your last few posts
If anyone wanna know the kind of things this guy says, pm me. I ain't bringing in into here.
Why am I crazy ? Have I said something illogical or bizarre? )
What did i delete ? It is still there. There is only a couple of messages about Scarlett's sexuality there. You can read them and post them here for everyone so that they can tell if I am crazy
U, net-nothing xDDD
U can even post my PMs to you and your answers. Let's see who's crazy here .
"If anyone wanna know the kind of things this guy says, pm me. I ain't bringing in into here."
What kind of things I'm saying? You either confuse me with someone or just lying. Find my reddit account, post my PMs here - what crazy things I'm saying there? If you don't do this u r just fukken little liar.
And who are you, how old are you and what are you in life?
I can meet everyone who wanna argue with me on the boxing ring
That's a stupid statement, and analgous to MC saying "I'll say whatever I want because if you try to disagree I'll play against you in SC2." Your reasoning is not very solid someone with a Ph.D.
I don't mind being "full of myself" - I'm a (quite) young Ph.D, know many languages, run some interesting projects, practice martial arts, develop myself etc ^^.
Yet you are immature enough to enter Scarlett's fan club in order to bash a new path she's trying out, then level such childish insults as "And go **** yourself etc , sugars Love u !" at users who are more respected than you.
Also, I hate to break it to you, but your English is complete garbage. Not only your grammar, but your lack of proper punctuation, the fact that you capitalize random letters, and your inability to use word spacing correctly, brings me halfway to a headache whenever I read your posts.

I genuinely do NOT want to hear your opinions about something as sensitive as that in Scarlett's own fan club, which is supposed to be a place where we cheer her on.
I ain't bringing in into here.
I appreciate it man
Let's see who's crazy here.
Actually, please stop trying to drag people into pissing contests with you; it's an unnecessary downer during these new and exciting times in Scarlett's career. If you continue to be blatantly disrespectful and derail our fanclub, I'm going to message an Admin and ask them to take a look at your conduct.
