All the different orbs are the currency, you should keep them all in case you don't know the value. You could check the value fairly easily though or just ask someone. Be careful to not get trolled though.
This is not at all similar to diablo 2. I once fantasized about a recursive marsh in act 3, now it seems I've got it. I wonder what the end game is like. Orbs == runes? I'm going to play single player, at least until I get stuck I think, then I'll only have to not waste orbs :p

Any recs for a flicker build? I'm thinking something with Oro's or something with Icebite right now. I've got some money, but would rather not spend the amount needed for a crit dagger.

Should I play Tempest or Warbands as a completely new player? Does the stuff in my stash disappear if I die ?

Game is hard, Tempest will likely just make you quit the game. If you die, your stash wouldn't disappear though. Just everything your character was using at that time will move to Standard (not Warbands).

I would suggest Warbands as well. The game is extremly beginner UN-friendly so you will most likely die early on in your adventure.

nevermind, mission accomplished

Oh yah with all the +3 craze going on, anyone has sufficient master lvl 8 for a +3 cold/fire craft in standard or warband can help me out? Alway wants one and GGG is prob gonna nerf master soon.
|
I put a couple unlinked +3 staffs in the standard stash yesterday, they might still be there considering no one plays standard.
I spent all the regals and scours I had on Standard to craft a buttload... made me feel like Hege lol.

Well the economy is the worst ever if you aren't rich already. I mean, >70 chaos for 1 exalted orb in warbands? Apparently it's much thanks to the master crafting.
I also just read that you can use a scouring on a item with "suffixes cannot be changed" mastermod and all prefixes get removed while the suffixes stay... And the other way with "prefixes cannot be changed". Kinda huge change, but I doubt that is intentional considering a scouring should make an item white...

It's the first time i witness a huge discovery in poe and it's fun to watch the drama unfold :D

Also I almost entirely agree with Ghudda's post in reply to Chris in that reddit thread, copy-paste below. In context, Chris thought that scour doesn't override master mod was common knowledge + Show Spoiler +The costs were too high to test and the grind to get level 8 masters was absurd. Each person had to do ~350 map level master missions with EACH master to get them to Rank 8, which I did. Much like someone dieting, it's nice until they never stop and die of starvation.
No one seemed to know or post any info on how the meta-mods worked or what the interactions were with currency. It was 2 ETERNALS at launch, no one in a new league is going to blow 2 eternals on something that might work unless you already have an impossible amount of currency lying around. The only thing I knew that worked with the "cannot be changed" mod were divine orbs.
Near the end of the league I went back to standard to get 3 eternals and test if the "cannot be changed rolls" kept prefix/suffix stats through eternaling the item. Get item with good prefixes, eternal it, chaos spam out some good suffixes, put suffixes cannot be changed, eternal back. Keep the chaosed suffixes as they were protected from the eternal, eternal in the original good prefixes. But that doesn't work as the eternal just overrides everything, and to find out it doesn't work just cost me ~300 chaos and 3 eternals (bought with 21 exalts.) I would have tried something else but that one really hit me hard.
If you guys just said how the mods interacted with all the currency types and defined what mods were an "attack" or "spell" mod in a manifesto post or something that would be enough. But you guys never did and the grind to get rank 8 masters is also something I never want to do again, ever, so those mods effectively don't exist for me.
Why can't our master's ranks just import from the standard/hardcore leagues like a month into the league like race rewards? Or give some sort of other reason to doing the masters, like each master drops an up to ilvl 59 item with their unique mod when you complete a quest with them so the availability of their unique mods aren't locked and limited into the daily cycle. The higher APS Vagan's daggers are at 20ish chaos because of their silly rarity with absolutely no way to override.
I have zero incentive to do Catarina missions. If I get Vorici, I don't even try, it's a free exile and I'll turn it in if I happen to succeed for some reason.
There are information that it always work, while several other said it was a new change in 2.0. I'm just a little upset that a change this big and they didn't include in the patch note, let the player base figure out themselves. However only the richest and top of the ladder, those who were able to get early masters lvl 8 have the means to test it. Knowledge so broken about crafting end game gear that's only available to the richest, leading to the rich get mega richer. I'm not really currency starve but that's not cool. Even the casual players who wouldn't care about +3 or 6L get hit hard by this indirectly because exalt price is insane atm while chaos purchasing power is terrible.

Chris made a comment about how it seems to have been an intended change.
Well, a +3 is pretty achievable for most players now- the price has been effectively lowered to a few exalts, with the caveat exalts are much more expensive. The 6L is still gonna be hard, but people can run around with a 5L +3 relatively easily now. Anyways, +3's are way too powerful for the price now compared to what you'd pay for a decent phys or crit weapon with comparable clearspeed.
On the other hand, decent armor is still kind of rare. The unique chests like BoB, CoD and LC all got drop rates nerfed really hard. Not sure how I feel about that.

Oh fuck me this drama is delicious. On the other hand after 1 year of Forsaken Master released I still have 0 master lvl 8 in any league so the cool craft tricks don't exist for me. Exalt have new sink, most interesting unique got up rarity tier so it's much harder to gear those compare to before though. It's not very fun, I'm prob skipping the rest of this league (again).

This info will probably have an effect on next leagues economy, it will be entertaining to see I am sure.

if I'm in a ele reflect map and my ele skill is linked with a penetration gem, when the ele damage gets reflected back to me does that also include the penetration?

Only the damage is reflected, none of the effects like penetration or an ignite.

so I knew about all the crafting shit, but man I need to talk to some people on my friends list now, holy shit.
edit: talking with skyforth, ghudda, atlas, and all these people, so crazy. all my secrets are gone now except for fishing rod, rip. (well and the EA bug, but that got patched anyway.)

Update from a noob:
0. My own fireball/rain witch's killing speed tapered off a quickly in the second difficulty, so I made a dual firetotem witch. Which has been a lot of fun, not to say necessary because I need safety. Safety from computer hickups due to massive graphics explosions. When bosses or magic boxes spawn 50 glittering monsters, I tend to die from time to time. Also there are so many monsters, it'd be a serious bother to kill them all with a melee skill.
1. Entered cruel difficulty. Got killed by the first fire-thing I encountered. Then I maxed my resists. Only got -80 chaos or something, that will be a problem in the later stages.
2. Found a 5-linked melee armour. This is what the game supposedly is all about, but what now? It is white, 5x red sockets. Or do I try to get the right colour-scheme for my totem jewels with a godawful lot of rainbow orbs?
3. Level 59 now, already found a couple of map pieces (I think???), a couple of chisels and prisms. Endgame is approaching fast. Doing 2,5k damage with totems, also have a chaos golem with a lot of hp.
4. ??? What else is there to do?

At this point in the league you're better off buying a 5L than using orbs on a low item level piece. You should be using currency while you're leveling up; hoarding all your orbs and never using them while you're leveling up is less efficient. That said, don't go exalting your level 30 armor. You only want to use transmutes/alterations typically and maybe a few alch/chaos. The socket orbs (chrome, jeweler) are mostly about how lazy you are (or how flexible your build is), but dropping a stack of chromes on something isn't actually that much in terms of purchasing power (wasting a bunch of fusings isn't a good idea).
End game is mostly about setting a goal and acquiring it. You might want to reach level 80 or 90. You may want to get the best gear you can find. You might want to kill Aziri or clear all the maps or complete all the challenges. It is really about what you want to accomplish and how you have fun.
