Regarding guitars idk, if i had to go for a metal guitar i'd grab an ESP Eclipse but that's me Nothing beats just playing a bunch of guitars, being patient and finding one you really like.

well i managed to learn the very short solo over the weekend and put it into the song. i uploaded a playthru just for records sake so i can (hopefully) remember how shit i was. and you can see how bad i am still (at chord transitions) lol. and also that i have 0 clue about rhythm technique yet + Show Spoiler + (actually i realise that i didnt finish the song lol but im so fuckin tired i cud drop right now) man i have no fucking idea how i'm going to improve at this rate lol. this week i just need to dedicate on nothing but each transition one by one until i nail them and do absolutely nothing else. otherwise i just won't improve by the end of the week. i don't have time to casually practice the same bar for 4 hours whilst watching dota anymore, i got like 30 mins in the car and 30 mins at home and i'm knackered as fuck the whole time to begin with

Do you like shorter scale length? Go Gibson style. Medium? PRS style Long? Fender style Do you want it heavy so it feels substantial, or really light so it is easy to play standing up with no pain? How wide do you want the neck? Do you want a contour on the body? Answer these questions by playing guitars with all the different attributes. Then start looking for guitars with the attributes you want. Many guitars sound good. Get something with the feel you want then if you desperately need a particular sound you can get that guitar later.

i'm guessing that barring (and playing) the lowest 6th string in the A shape is incorrect coz it changes the root/lowest note of the chord then right? but i can still barre it and just not strike it right :/ now im like totally going to the guitar shop tomorrow to try out the ibanezes again!!!!!!!!! edit: someone on UG said ibanez are harder to barre on anyway coz flatter fretboard or something so i should still be aware of that (fml)

edit FYI the drone sound that was occuring when i play scale is apparently due to me not muting strings during scales. i never knew you were supposed to lol.

i just got back from the guitar shop where i tried 4 guitars out for quite a while.... 1) a sick looking yellow exotic type £500 ibanez rgsomething , + absolutely gorgeous + played exactly the same as my gsa60 but with better setup + still hard to get some barre chords but not as hard as my guitar. by hard i mean i still have to push pretty bloody hard and get a fair bit of buzz here and there 2) a £450 6 string ironsomething ibanez + played even better than the one above. uses a different neck so maybe that was it, could be setup or anything though 3) the £400 epiphone les paul cherry sunburst + i thought this would play much better for me than the ibanezes but shockingly i was pretty terrible on it and literally couldn't ring out the Gminor barre at all , wtf 4) mim strat sss + now i tried a few fender/strat boards in previous visits, never this one though i dont think. and HOLY FUCK i wasn't imagining things when it always appeared that i find this make 10x easier to play than ibanez. i can do Bb and even whatever comes higher than that (with ur barre off the top of the guitar) pretty much with ease. i have small hands so its really surprising (and disappointing) that i suck on ibanez so much but i absolutely gotta get a fender now there's no question about it (fyi the action was low on the 2 ibanezes and i was getting fretbuzz AND having to push super hard to make chords, the action on the eiphone was medium ish i think and the strat was lowish and much less buzz than the others if any) NOW I GOTTA SPEND 60 FUCKIN HOURS DECIDING WHETHER SSS SSH OR HSH AND WITH OR WITHOUT TREM LOL FML thanks so much for you help EVERYONE over the weeks of my quest (and onwards). my ultimate conclusion is that i suck , and maybe one day i will pick up an ibanez or any other guitar and be able to play it without a buttfuck ton of fret buzz whilst giving myself carpel tunnel syndrome at the same time from pushing so hard to make a clean chord. or maybe not, i don't care, i'm happy as shit at last coz its been a rough ride lol :D btw if anyone has a spare minute, is the tone in these songs strat SSS or could i get it with HSH or SSH or is it tele (i done a quickl google)? i'll probably have to decide between SSH and HSH but thats a job for another day , its 10pm and i gotta sleep so will just leave these here. (there are some parts where guitar is VERY clear if you can find them fyi):

http://www.quilterlabs.com/index.php/products/mini-head-amps/101-mini-head I feel like I'm breaking the rules being interested in solid state, but those features are amazing and the sound is good too. Also I'm pretty sure I'm going to get this when I finish defending my thesis:

Seriously, don't rush into getting a guitar, there are so many good ones! Make sure you can try as many as you can! PRS is a really good company. Reverend is also good.

i figured the tele might be more frustrating for me since it would be more a precision instrument and strat would be a more relaxed "do whatever" instrument. (that's psychology for you). candy red maple for a warm sexy fun feel. yeah i put a lot of thought into this shit and so i get a lot out of it MY HAIRCUT FUCKING SUCKS UNTIL I CAN BE BOTHERED TO GET MY SISSORS OUT OF MY SUITCASE SO I HAD TO MSPAINT SOME OF IT OFF LOL

I ended up with a Fender Telecaster for my first guitar, but it was too country for my tastes
