im in the East Bay. we are talking about the same nest i believe. its just east of sacramento.
the wife and i went to a magmar nest (san leandro) yesterday, and caught too many of the things. we also found three dratinis at the berkeley marina. too bad we had so many server problems, and ran out of batteries. it was fun.
for those that dont know, the silph road on reddit is an amazing resource. they also have their own site (thesilphroad.com), which will have lots of information about pokemon go.
I live inland in Socal and it's pretty much pidgeys, rattatas and stuff that are weak to water. I haven't spent much time on the west side or even gone south where the water pokemon are.
Currently at level 16. Campus doesn't have much beyond ratatta pidgy and drowzee, but there is a canal about a mile away with dratini tauros and squirtle...Still I don't have much variety anywhere within walking distance...

It really is. Especially if you find clusters of pokestops that constantly have lures going.
Its dumb that a 3-4block radius in new York has more pokemon than entire towns. More pokestops and gyms is understandable but just raw spawn points really need to be upped else where.
Still a bit slow, is there any other way to get candies of a specific type outside of catching it? It kind of makes it impossible to level up your starter with how rare they are, no?

you can get a bunch of candies by hatching eggs, all three starters and pikachu appear in 2km eggs, so it's not impossible to get enough candies...

your starter pokemon is garbage anyways. dont level it up.

Not impossible, but rather luck based and tedious. Not too unlike other 'mon, I guess, but still a bit of a hassle.

But I want a Blastoise
Best starter all Gens.
You can probably just find one out in the wild that will be better than your starter.

as the other guy said above, you should level up the ones you find, not the one you start with. the starters are not only low cp, but also low IV usually so they are garbage.
