Soulkey didn't win his game against Movie because he played better mechanically, he won because he used a creative strategy, that literally looked exactly like a 2012-2013 SC2 build. Get over yourself, watch a different stream and stop trying to keep your nostalgic "pure, bw is the only Starcraft ever crap to yourself."
Dude it was a hydra bust. We've seen hydra busts like this for a very long time. It wasn't a 2012-2013 SC2 build lmao.
Movie's build was actually a recreation of a build Stork used on the very same map where you abuse the long rush distance (gate -> core at front to wall off early) so you can get early corsairs out.

See this is why people hate BW circle jerkers so much. Artosis said that playing SC2 has made the best BW players better at some aspects of broodwar. If you think that isn't true, well you're just wrong. SC2 is an easier mechanical game allowing players to focus more on strategy, tactics, creativity and other aspects. They bring what they've been able to do in SC2 back to BW and combine that with the higher mechanical demands they are doing and they are better players. It's the same as the chess analogy. You don't learn how to click faster or how to use control groups but you do learn how to plan for the future 20 moves in advance. Soulkey didn't win his game against Movie because he played better mechanically, he won because he used a creative strategy, that literally looked exactly like a 2012-2013 SC2 build. Soulkey's strategy was NOT creative. It's a strategy that's literally years old and has been played often over the past few years. I would also argue that Soulkey was a much higher caliber player in 2011 than he is now.
I don't disagree with the assumption that players may take some ideas from SC2 to BW which gives them advantages. I did, too, for example. However, in this case it's simply not true.

Get over yourself, watch a different stream and stop trying to keep your nostalgic "pure, bw is the only Starcraft ever crap to yourself." Sorry, but I just can't get with the (rather dumb) idea that an easier game did much of anything to elevate former high-level BW players in their BW performance to any great extent... on the contrary, the time away took more away from their BW skills and the development of BW meta than anything SC2 contributed.
Just because Artosis has some sort of marching orders to pimp SC2 at every breath doesn't mean we have to go along with it like good little sheeple (or can at least expect the SC2 pimping to be done with non-ridiculous comments). SC2's a fine game in it's own right, it's just not a lot of BWers favorite game, that's all. So I don't need to hear about it every other sentence. If I did, I'd go watch an SC2 cast.
Sorry if that bit of logic made your panties bunch.

I can read. You're talking about Soulkey using a "creative strategy". It wasn't really, this sort of build was literally the reason why protoss would constantly get wrecked by players like Shine.
SC2 didn't give Soulkey hydra busting skills like the casters profess. Soulkey was a solid proleague zerg back in the day who was on Woongjin's starting lineup, there's no way he wouldn't know how to do this build.

Yeah they didn't. Because Soulkey decided to put them at maxrange to attack the bunker. Which was silly. So yeah, he failed with his break.
