Just stumbled onto this, and have to say this is amazing work. I've just spent hours trying to get w-mode to work, with no actual luck. Looking forward to giving this a go, when it hits OB / invite comes.
double awesome to find that it'll be heading towards an OSS release too.

Guys. What if ShieldBattery is a secret testing ground for Blizzards upcoming StarCraft Remastered to get multiplayer to work on modern machines but they hid it under the guise of "guys just working on this in their spare time"

I think one can easily see, from the quality of our offering and how much we actually care about the community, that Blizzard is *not* involved

this seems like a great program that will add many peoples experience playing the game with newer pc and software releases which do not adapt themselves well to older games designed for older operating systems, it would be cool to see this reach is final version and be available for pc and mac and every kind of computer that in such ways is incompatible with starcraft installation

AND WE'LL GET BLIZZARD TO PAY FOR IT!

Just to give you all an update given the announcements today, work on ShieldBattery will definitely be continuing
We have a bunch of stuff just about ready for another update, but depending on 1.18's timing it may take a bit to get out. 1.18 will require us to re-do a bunch of work to make our interactions with the game work again, but we'll get that done as fast as possible (although we can only start once we've actually received the new patch). We'll get that done ASAP, though, and get a new version out as soon as we can.

Thank you for the status update in what could be a critical time for the game we all love and play!

i don't want to sound negative, but with SC:R coming, which uncludes modern OS support and such, what exactly is the reason people will still use SB?

My guess would be matchmaking, smart ladder system, and community.

There might be many reasons, there might be few, it depends on the quality of things Blizz can offer with their servers, over the Passion of SB Devs. Given the history of all games, I would easily pick SB and community handled servers and projects over Blizz stuff.
