Looking at this for the route, assuming I have the gas in the engine for it: www.strava.comProbably will give it full gas on Flagstaff see what sort of VAM I can get on a approx 30' climb, and then suffer through the rest from there. Anybody else planning any good rides? I realized I need a real tire pump considering I don't have one for my shitty 1999 GT Force road bike or something lol. Can't cycle at all until I have pumped tires lol
Hah, yea that's pretty important
Wouldn't make it very far or fast on 0 psi tyres

Nobody has anything to say about todays stage so far?!
Admittedly, it wasn't that decisive, but it was a pretty nasty blow to Aru's chances. He would need one hell of a day tomorrow, or a great day tomorrow and great TT to really bring the yellow jersey into play. Froome should be pretty much in defense mode now; and he's got a great team for that especially in the more regular and generally less steep Alps.
Things also don't look good at all for Contador winning a stage, he seemed determined but just way too tired today. Same for Quintana, who looks just totally spent. He probably can't wait for tomorrow to be over.

Nothing really interested has happened, few seconds here, few seconds there, and Froome stronger than ever, he could get a nap today, and he wasnt going to lose any time.

I'm mostly impressed by Uran/Bardet. Still hoped more from todays stage, like either of them or Aru to make the race for yellow more exciting... with the TT still up coming it seems over unless Froom loses like 1:30 min tomorrow.
All in all a shitty stage with Kittel crashing and not managing to complete the stage. Now green is decided, it could've been so exciting.

Well, that was disappointing. I was hopeful Uran or Bardet would attack and then Froome shows them whos boss and attacks himself. Good job Barguil, though.
Landa tried and got away for a few minutes, gotta give that to him. Guess Froome didn't need his help and he tried to get a better standing in the GC.

I think Landa was supposed to help Froome after he jumped away from Uran and Bardet in a counter-attack but they were strong enough to keep up so that didn't work out.

Froome is too storng and will win the tour but I think AG2R tried to push the pace, they were just not strong enough to put sky and Froom in a difficicult position. I'm happy for Barguil, nice win on such a beautiful stage!

Predictable stage, one bored one, what was the maximum time that they took from Froome this year in any stage, 20 seconds?

What a tour for Sunweb...

More or less, yea. Froome definitely didn't look nigh invincible like he did in previous years, but he was still the strongest; especially in week 3. However, he was never able to open up a definitive gap on any stage. That's in contrast to years gone by. There is a good chance Froome continues to win/contend Tours for a while longer, but I have a suspicion we are beginning to see the first few signs of father time catching up with Froome.
Today's stage was good in my opinion, and Barguil's ride was exceptional. I honestly don't know about his TT, but he looks like an emerging contender. He rode away from the AG2R/Sky train, and the GC guys didn't pull that much time back on him when they went either. This at the end of a tour where he has been very active throughout.
For Sunweb this of course means you know have Dumoulin and Barguil in the same team, along with guys like the ever improving Chad Haga for support. Watch out in the Vuelta and especially beyond for Sunweb, I think they are soon going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Somewhat unrelated, but transfer rumours and looking at the landscape right now are VERY interesting....

Barguil has started to look like what Thibaut Pinot was supposed to be a few years ago. Very impressed by his ride. Aru really lost his legs in the third week. Feel bad for the man, but the last two stages were brutal for him.
I agree with Froome; he really didn't gain any time on the big contenders outside of the TT and a few seconds here and there. It's clear he was the best rider, but I wonder: what's Landa's contract situation? Because I would like to see him as a GC rider tbh.
God how I wish Quintana was in form and Porte/Valverde hadn't crashed out. The top 10 in the tour would've been super stacked.
What are the current transfer rumors? Who should I follow on twitter, etc. to stay on top of cycling news?

Landa's contract is about to be up I believe. The Dutch commentators kept harping about it

Everything suggests Landa is 100% headed to Movistar. Which is really interesting taken in conjunction with Landa's comments that he is headed to where he can lead a team and challenge for the tour....then you hear that Quintana is supposedly not happy with Movistar...
|
Landa to Movistar. Quintana to Astana. Aru to UAE.
Thats the rumors they keep pushing on tv.

Whatever happened to Pierre Rolland as a top 10 GC guy? He's only 30. I'm pretty sure he's designated team leader by Cannondale with 181; was Uran's performance this tour a complete shocker? It's been a couple years since he was relevant in the TDF and i'm curious as to why.

Yea Aru just got a bit flat. Supposedly has bronchitis, but honestly especially for slender climbers like that it's just easy to get a smidge too light over the tour and really get vulnerable. Body doesn't usually do all that well at less than 6% BF.
As far as Froome goes, it's clear he was the best rider, but unlike in the past years I wouldn't say it was clear he was the best climber. It may have been because he didn't need to, but take away the seconds Froome gained on everyone in the TT and he is only sitting 3rd. Barguil arguably was on better climbing form as well. Froome was good, but he was not dominant like in past years; this is certainly going to make next year very, very interesting.
Yep. Would have been nice to have a fresh Quintana and Porte not crashing. We still don't know how Porte holds up in the third week...but I think Porte has better form than anybody else coming in, Froome included.
With regards the bolded, I get most of my news through the main cycling journalistic sites...but usually just through steephill. It's an excellent site. You get the main calendar through the year, general headlines in the middle of the page, and if you click on the specific races you can then get all the info for the race, video's of last km's are usually up within 30' of finishing, and any news articles pertaining to that day are linked there. #1 best resource I know of for following cycling.

Thanks for the response above ^.
Eddy the boss! Great power near the end. Nikias Arndt got decimated

Damn, that was close... Bardet really wasn't good this stage and Landa almost cought up, he's 1 second behind him now.
Also Uran finishing 2nd overall, being the only one sub 1 min behind Froome.
I totally thought Froome would win this TT, well done by the 2 guys from Poland and gz to Bodnar.

What a stage. I feel sorry for Kwiatek and Landa, both failing by 1 second
Overall an average Tour. I can't get behind this course philosophie that is being applied in the last 2 years. Yes the differences between the candidates are smaller but that is due to the course mostly and the show is much worse because nobody is going to waste energy on attacks that can be relayed in the descent or flats after the last mt.
