sorry, I'm not really in the loop here..
Blizzard doesnt want teams and leagues for the team because it ruins their "vision of e-sports" where any players (Casuals and their mothers) can participate. Blizzard has been rolling out games and expansions where it is catered to casuals to increase profit margin as demanded by Activision. KeSPA teams and licenses is viewed by Blizzard as a barrier for a wider audience but of course, the trade off if there are no teams and license would be low quality matches and personality for being able to target a wider audience, where even YOU can participate in a GSL tournament.

Oh I don't know... maybe the fact that they straight out said they don't want team leagues?
Okay, this is crap. Remember the interview with the GOM guy that TL did?
It's not just gold and tennis that we looked at. We took ideas from many different sports. Even though e-sports comprises of games where a lot of players participate, like FPS games, I think RTS games are individual games. Even though there are teams in proleague, each match is individual. It's not like baseball or soccer(football) where you get a specific position and work with your team. If you cheat on an individual game, you lose, but in a team game, you still have a chance, if your teammates play well. That's why we made GSL an individual league. Also, there are political reasons. We could make team leagues too if the gaming teams all participate, but we're still in negotiation with the association, and this may take a long time. Although it is an individual league right now, we have the intentions to change the format to incorporate the teams somehow.

Just to add to that, GOM is hosting a small team tournament over the next few days too.
Whether that becomes a regular event is yet to be determined.

Cannot really respond about the whole vision of E-sport that Blizzard has though. But about Activision pulling the string is not really correct. Bobby may be there to make cash (and is probably not liked by a lot of people in many communities). But whatever is happening over at Blizzard is the works of Vivendi,(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivendi]) not by Activision really.
Activision is only merged togheter with formerly known Blizzard. And since both Mike and Bobby answers to the headquarters of Vivendi, and all stockholders. I think it's kinda safe to assume it's from there the pressure is coming mostly.
On a sidenote about Bobby though, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Kotick there are some really interesting comments and quotes from him if you are interested in how he views gaming and gamers and franchies.
Sorry if I strayed away to much from topic!

Not like I hate SC2 or Blizzard for that matter though I'm just a sad puppy seeing the best game of all time ceasing to exist .........

The problem I have with the new SC2 crowd that make light of Brood War is that they have no idea what it has really accomplished, or what ESPORTS really is. Training 12 hours EVERY day, wtf?? Thats slave labour. its not a required 12 hours, nearly every player practices way more than the required amount, which is something like 8 or 9. I am really tired of reading crap like this. Not at seraph but Ghad. They are not fucking forced to do anything, they voluntarily practice that much to keep ahead of the competition. As been said by seRapH, they are not required to practice 12 hours. It is just that to keep ahead of the competition, some players practice 12 hours or more and for everyone else to keep up they have to practice as much or they will fall behind. Eventually that will happen to sc2 too if it gets competitive enough.
On October 13 2010 08:39 ptz wrote: The main argument i see the "bw fans" using against Blizzard on this matter is that they are trying to kill bw in order to make way for sc2, that they should let them both live and let bw die its own natural death. I find it naive to think that bw could live together with sc2 in korea. Just think about it: Honestly, I don't really care about the sc2 scene(means I don't care whether it's successfull or whether it fails), all I care about is my bw scene.
Maybe I will start to care about sc2 scene if we get games the quality of Flash vs Jaedong.
The argument is basically let bw die when sc2 get big, NOT kill bw first, and then wait for sc2 to get big(if it will).
Hope that fucking clears all the misinformed crap that people are spouting out
And I will laugh at you if you think that esports can suddenly boom in the west with sc2 as bw did with korea. I will actually be glad if it takes off in the west but I am just being realistic here. There was that thread a while ago about video games, I can't seem to find it as I don't remember what its name was, but basically it's people here in TL commenting on video games being a waste of time and a waste of someone's life. Seriously if there are people among TL(considered by people as an elitist gaming forum among foreigners) like that, what do you think the rest of the west thinks of esports?
Back to topic: + Show Spoiler + If bw dies, I'll probably give up gaming and I'll probably stop visiting TL(Forums have turned to crap recently anyways). I might just check the forums from time to time just for the anime thread.
I am sad that I didn't find bw proscene sooner. I am glad that I was at least able to meet you for a few years though <3 (I started watching sc during the end of GSI but didn't really get find TL and other leagues(didn't know where to watch) until Gom Season 3).
The only positive thing is Flash will be remembered as the greatest player of all time.

15. Former SK T1 coach Ju Hoon and Former KT (then KTF) coach Jeong Su Young is looking to create SC2 team. Coach Jeong has been looking into this since around the time Team NEX formed. It is also rumored that Boxer will most likely follow Coach Ju when he forms the team. Good news for BOXER
