Deleuze what makes you presume queens have human DNA? Broodmothers the evidence is obvious but not so much to me with queens. For WoL, we emphasized the multiplayer so much that we almost feel like it got labeled as a game only for the hardcore players." Who agrees with this statement? Not me? Starcraft is a game for hardcore gamers. The campaigns are forgotten by most people within a year, a few of us still laugh at Thank god for Nuclear Fusion, but for the most part I think they're catering to a theoretical mainstream audience that none of us have met. Sc/BW and Sc2 only thrive so ridiculously much (in comparison to another C&C or AoE sequel) because of the hardcore multiplayer community.

Marines are the best unit in the game and they shoot up. Terrans have the best AA options by far... I would prefer them if they were ground units with a weaker aerial mode(they could even keep the range to act as a support unit to a new terran air unit or two), than air units with a very weak ground mode. That describes Thors perfectly... Who agrees with this statement? The perception amongst most gamers (and ofc non gamers) is that Starcraft is a very "hardcore" game. I know it's hard to imagine from inside - especially if you come from BW, but that's how it is seen. It's perfectly sensible for Blizz to emphasise the less hardcore aspects in expansions. They already have the hardcore market.

Anyway, I really cannot stand the 'dumbed down filosofi' that I see so many companies adapting now a days, sigh. I'm sure it all makes sense from a business stand point, though. HotS wont change in this regard, I sadly feel. I do hope they'll remove some the showy and flashy units like the colosses that are otherwise just lame and boring, imho. So much of the little things that made BW awesome have been removed and replaced with stuff that only give you the illusion that you're powerful and good, but in reality just beening the units, rather. There're still skill based elements in the game, obviously. I'm sure the singleplayer will be a ton of fun, anyways. I'm not yet sure I'll be picking it up this expansion. Edit: Why didn't they just make the multiplayer 'hardcore' and the campaign chilled? Best of both worlds, imo. I'd love to see players supporting the SCII BW mod instead of SCII, also.

Try describing the amount of things you do in the first 10 minutes of a starcraft 2 game to a casual guy who just finished a single player game like Mass Effect 2. He can think of maybe a couple gameplay features(usually story related). You will have a mountain of things that you can talk about, he will describe characters and how he thought firing a alien laser gun was cool. You will talk about hundreds of gameplay decisions you did.

Q: Is there going to be any solution for LAN? First of all, that was probably the most important question as the Blizz people took it as an opportunity to talk most about Multiplayer... so let's take a look at the initial answer: We don't have any intentions to do anything towards that right now. What does this tell us, outside of the obvious statement it makes ("NO LAN FOR YOU")? -The issue with KeSPA has been resolved and as far as my understanding goes, it's what kept Blizz from putting LAN in SC2 because "hurp durp MSL etc could just host LAN tourneys" - looks like that wasn't a major factor for Blizz to leave out LAN support after all. -The alleged "LAN client" they said they were working on is no longer being worked on. This either means it's finished but rotting on their internal devcycles or they've never bothered doing it and just said it to shut us all up while the tournament scene tries to unfold (and is hindered in that movement by, durr, lack of LAN support). The answer goes on: We are listening to that point, but we were talking about lessons learned, we've learned a lot on all fronts, online, we've learned to keep it simple. -BNet 2.0 is anything but simple. In fact, it's so over-complicated when compared to BNet 1.0 that I've frankly no idea what they're talking about in this one, outside of "We learned we need to buy more Server hardware". The online maintenance and service that SC2 requires is more than anything that we've ever tried, and it's a lot harder running a service. We're trying to make sure we streamline where we can, as far as that's concerned. This is an important one. Not only does it tell us that BNet 2.0 is even more of a stress on it's server infrastructure than World of Warcraft, it also tells us a bit of background information. I'll fill in a tiny blank here, to make this more understandable: Back when WoW's first expansion came out, they didn't expect the servers to hold their stuff together.. which they somehow ended up doing, against all odds. Looks like SC2 wasn't half as lucky and puts a bigger stress load on the servers than WoW. Ouch. At least streamlining sounds good, hopefully it'll be along the lines of "We see major traffic incoming in roughly 2 weeks due to TOURNAMENT X happening in COUNTRY Y. We should allocate more server resources to that" - "If it helps us generate more profit in the long term then that's worth it, so we'll do it". In case you didn't know it, IT is always under-financed in every company so a more streamlined process here could mean less paper-pushers meddling around in budgets. As far as lessons learned, the custom games stuff; we delivered something that we thought was really good, and with the community feedback, we learned that there was a lot of stuff that we could do even better. Some stuff that was awesome, and we'll take those and keep doing them and some of them we can improve. Admittedly, the Editor and some of the things done with it are impressive. But that's no justification for the horrible concept of a "SC2 Marketplace" to sell people things on. It's "simply" ActiBlizzes attempt to repeat the re-skinned glowing horse from WoW the imbeciles bought up for $25 in masses, generating an income of millions of dollars within days. Also, I know this sounds harsh and distrusting of the company in general but their main interest is profit and nothing but, I doubt that this would be as rewarding a cut of their income as designing a popular map or hat in TF2. Two different games, one shared concept - "Sell the users what the users made, make profit off of it and give a bit back so they can't complain".
