I turn on second gear by: 1) going for a PR 2) failing and re-attempting a lift I know I can hit 3) hitting a second set perfectly, then psyching myself for a minute before the third set I turn on this magical third gear that stays with me the rest of the day when: 1) the workout is going well AND 2) I'm going for a PR (particularly a heavy dead) AND 3) that perfect song starts blasting out my headphones AND 4) I hit that lift. Takes it to a whole new level.

And people say that makes me strange. Besides the fact that I just don't have a portable music system to put in my garage right now I also have never run with music or anything. It fucks me up somehow. Especially with running. Screws with my natural rhythms or some nonsense I feel.

I helps me enter insanity mode which pretty much completes the lift every single time (a very few exceptions though) and that red surge of power is just awesome. If I put my mind to it and get pumped up in "the right direction" my vision starts to narrow and everything turns red... Today's workout: Deadlift: 70kg x 10 x 2, 100kg x 8, 120kg x 5, 150kg x 3, 170kg x 1, 185kg x 1 and 200kg x 2 Stiff Legs: 3 sets of 120kg x 8 - constant tension Reverse hypers: 3 sets of 40kg x 12 Good session if I only look a the numbers. The 200kg double was heavy, form not perfect. The main issue though was I had no mind-muscle connection at all during the whole workout. That is I think the first time it has happened to me on a lower body workout. Just felt wierd. May have been caused by lack of sleep the last 3 days. Even tried to do some good mornings but no stretch at all. After that I just bailed and went home.

Are you planning to start another cycle of coan-philippi now that the competition is over, or are you doing something else?

Just having some fun now, have about 6-7 weeks before starting Smolov and then after that another cycle of Coan-Philippi. Not having a specific plan is quite strange really. After the deads today I had to sit down for like 10 minutes and thing about what I was going to do next.

Seriously, that is just a nightmare for me. I went to the gym yesterday for a light workout of some sort, since my new plan only starts next week. I just did a bit of everything in some weird order. I absolutely cannot lift without a set plan, fucks up everything.

My right arm is SO "tight" when i position it straight vertically under the bar and grip hard. The forearm and biceps/triceps feel very tight like rock hard against my skin. And it FEELS tight. Idk if I'm crazy but the left arm doesn't feel uncomfortable like this, or to this extent. In lowering the 30kg OHP I had the shock of pain again. THIS time it seemed to be near my wrist rather than further down nearer the middle of the arm. It seems like a different spot on my arm. I done ~4-5 reps and the shock of pain suddenly became great and I put the bar down. These two motherfucking dots of blood were now on my wrist next to my veins. Idk if they were there before or if they are acne spots (wtf would I get acne there). I done another ~4 reps until the shock went through my wrist again. I swear I could feel blood pooling around those dots in my arm. The dots dont seem to hurt to touch or rub, maybe a slight burn like carpet-burn feels like on the bigger one. I guess I will stop OHP and pull/chinups completely, and see if I can get appointment with physio on the NHS. Fuck this shit
