I know everyone is probably brimming with excitement after the sheer brilliance of the latest episode of Teamliquid: Attack! In fact, I'd wager there are people that are creaming themselves as we speak as MBC have offered to have Light or Pusan do an episode as well. While TL is holding down the fort for the foreigners- our lone boy in Korea, Tasteless, is pulling in the viewers for the GOMTV Classic. Indeed, no matter where you look, things have never been better for the foreign scene.
Tasteless is only half the entertainment, the pimp semifinal lineups are the other half. Both semifinals promise to be creative encounters fused with pure Starcraft passion. Each has their own unique element; Semifinal A has the classic Rookie Vigor vs The unstoppable Zerg Steamroller. While Semifinal B will have to wait for next week . Tonight, YoonJoong, better known as Shuttle, will take on Jaedong in a Best of 5 matchup. And it's going to be explosive
But let's get acquainted with last weeks events thanks to my good friend G.s)Naruto!

I think he'll take the series based on that, though it won't be easy based on Forgg's play lately. However, if Forgg does win, I'd be much more ok with Jaedong beating Forgg than Flash, so two of three possible outcomes are alright with me ;D
I hope most of all they are excellent (but not necessarily epic in length) games and that Flash doesn't get trounced. As long as he wins or loses in close battles I won't kill myself.
Then, with Flash showing the true brutality of KTF, Nal_rA will be inspired, remember the old days, and go for a grand slam next season (GOM, OGN, MBC leagues).

Flash is really good, forGG is really good, hopefully the games will be really good. Too bad KTF doesn't have reliably strong singles players to give Flash a break during the PL season, or I would be pretty sure of a Jaedong/Flash final. As it is, Flash is pretty obviously burning out- but maybe he can push forward and win over these next few weeks before getting a much-needed vacation.
But yeah... Flash has been dropping random TvT games lately, and while he's won the last few TvT series he's been in, can't really say he looked invincible in any of those series (except maybe game 3 vs. Memory, though Memory deserves some "credit" for unsieging right then).

It's the final weekly stats report, and I'd like to start it with an apology and another correction. Last week I informed you all that the playoffs will have the top six teams in it. This is not true. Our translator missed something. The six teams will only enter the playoffs next season. This season will only see the top four teams entering the playoffs.
With the all matches done now we get to see the final standings, and what a surprise this season has turned into. In first place we see Samsung Khan at the top again, revitalised by the emergence of Jangbi as a true force, as well as by some young players performing well.
In second place we have SKT who have come back all guns blazing this season. With the appointment of Oov as a coach their Terran players have shown fantastic play, especially Midas. Another strong player for SKT is BeSt, who ends the season on third position.
In third place we have OGN, who have been something of a surprise this season. With no big name players (except perhaps Luxury), and a poor start to the season, OGN have come back to show fantastic results at the end of the season.
The final team to go through is STX SouL, who have managed to avoid losing any of their final matches in order to secure themselves a position in the playoffs. With many experienced players, and some dangerous rookies, STX looks like a real threat for the playoffs.
In the map standings we see the winning percentages drawing closer to 50% as the season comes to a close. Overall, the maps seem to favour Terran slightly, especially when taking into consideration the amount of TvT matches played.
Don't let his friendliness fool you; Sea's Terran is monstrous beyond words. In casual games, he has only a single loss against the likes of Mondragon, Jianfei, Nony, Squall, and the list goes on.
FPVod If all goes according to plan, there will be two streams for you to pick from. The normal observer stream, and the live webcam from the MBC House which will be filming Sea's screen, hands, the MBC House, the live observers, and possible any ceremonies. This isn't 100% confirmed, but we're working on it.
So please join in this weekend and try to get a game with TL Attack's first progamer guest!
Special thanks to Ack1027 who is our Korean contact. He actually called the MBC coaches to help set this all up.
Thanks to lilsusie and Wala.Revolution who have also been in contact with the MBC coach. They will be traveling to the MBC house during the event to help with technical issues and providing extra coverage!
Also, thank you infinity21 who will be our translator during the episode.
It was kind of a strange episode, with new formats being tested. Overall, I think the first episode of this season ended up being a little rough around the edges.
- Your opponent in the finals is the "god of fighting," July. ▲ July is the player that made me rethink my TvZ. He taught me how scary all-in rushes can be. I will prepare well for the finals, and show good form.
A little under two and a half years ago, iloveoov muttered those words upon realizing that his opponent in the finals of Shinhan 2005 would be his bitter rival July. The game may have changed substantially in the intermediate years but July hasn't. His style, flair and creativity is still very much alive and kicking in this heavy macro age. By some miracle July had come through many difficult experiences and risen to the top of the progaming world. He was back in the OSL final after more than two years of waiting.
Best would be no pushover. Best represents a culmination of everything that makes Protoss Protoss. He has the macro of Pusan, the flair of Bisu, the rock hard steadiness of Stork, the championship edge of Anytime, and the inspiration of the Devil himself. Without any doubt what so ever, it is very clear that Best is the best Protoss in the world right now, and he wants that title badly. The comeback win against Luxury when he was down 0-2 showcased everything good about Best and he stayed strong in the face of adversity - the mark of a champion.
The EVER2008 final was everything a good final needed to be, and I was immediately swept up in the atmosphere. Once again the crowd was mammoth, and a few quick sweeps over the audience were enough to bring the message home - Starcraft was alive and well.
This was a true final, and I knew that this evening would be beyond epic. The Golden Mouse was out on display, ready, should July win the final. The EVER 2008 Trophy was the prize up for grabs, and neither player would let it go without a fight.
With OSL and MSL quickly wrapping up, it seems awkward that there's still a league going on. The Gom Classic is moving into its second day of the round of 8 today and to sum it up rather briefly;
However the news just gets worse, the matchups are between players who just wont pull in the crowds. That's okay though, because last weeks games were highly entertaining and were some of the best games of the whole tournament. So if you haven't watched those yet, you're in luck as this news post has all the information you need.
Our good friend Tasteless has pulled through for TL and for those competing for the $25 in the Bracket Contest you now are also competing for autographs of the Semifinalist from the Gom Classic! That's right, win the bracket contest and you'll be getting yourself some progamer autographs. Further details are to be negotiated so stay tuned to see how you can win cool stuff just by watching the Gom Classic. Also, expect an update on the bracket contest after the Round of 8 is completed. Last week the Round of 8 kicked off with a bang as Shuttle took on the macro monster ForGG. The coaches of KTF and Khan both predicted ForGG to romp in easy and take the series 2-0, however Shuttle had different plans and jumped out to a fairly strong lead in the first game. However in a classic rookie mistake, Shuttle played over-aggressive. Shuttle suicided a great number of his forces into ForGG's tankfire and handed him the game on a silver platter. With that, ForGG continued the unbeaten Terran streak on Othello with stats something like 10-0.

The first zerg to win a golden mouse, the second progamer ever to win one, the simple message that says "yes not only nada can do it", the hype and love from fans that had to endure drama and problems with julys future and past finally pay off. July has to win this. He absolutely has to. And if he does, it will be a great mark in the history of starcraft progaming.
On July 07 2008 16:04 HaXxorIzed wrote: Best will hopefully arrive at this final prepared to deal with early shenanigans. The final against Luxury should have imprinted into his mind that the earlygame is where he needs to maintain parity against Zerg players, so his macromanagement can then crush them. July has managed to beat .. Rock and Backho, who are hardly impressive PvZ, and hence I think there is plenty of room for either player to impose their style on this final.
On July 07 2008 22:21 riptide wrote: Seriously though, July needs this. This isn't just about him, it's about the old vs the new, and the old desperately, desperately needs a comeback at this point.
It's been a long time since I, and many other members, have been this excited about an OSL Final. In fact, the last OSL that was this exciting was the epic Nada vs Savior clash from Shinhan 3 OSL. This final promises everything a good final should; drama, action, intensity and humor. Since the Round of 8 was released, this was the dream final for the OSL. There was no substitute for the July vs Best final as it quite simply a brilliant matchup.
In one corner you have the God of War, Tushin, who has risen from the ashes and return himself to the top. In the other corner you have the Devil's Apprentice, a player hungry for victory no matter the cost. This Saturday we have the cataclysmic showdown between the heavens; and the games they will carve will become legendary. But let me digress from commenting on this matchup and allow me to introduce the players.
In the international game of bilingual “telephone”, a few issues always arise. As we have a few different people trying to put Teamliquid Attack together with speed and efficiency, something got missed along the line and as a result, some miscommunication occurred.
The MBC Hero team will be going on its vacation the next week, so we will be unable to air Teamliquid Attack featuring Sea[Shield] until the weekend of July 18 (An exact date/time will be posted in the next couple of days). Both Teamliquid.net and the MBC Hero team are excited to present this long overdue fan event, so bear with us through this slight hiccup. Foreign fans have already been experiencing some friendly games with Sea on Battle.net and we are all looking forward to bringing matches to a mainstream audience!
So what can you do for the next week?
Thedeadhaji has been adding a new Sea[Shield] VOD each day this week which you can find here.
