Uchi no Maid is definitely high up on the creepiness scale. Good animation though. Muscle jokes are always welcome too. Zombieland Saga is a weird show. It's clearly an advertisement for Saga prefecture and they did an idol show because they're popular. But then they added zombies in because idols are too played out or something? The drama sucks. They're not particularly good singers. The animation's not good enough to make the dancing impressive. So overall... everything blows except for some of the jokes. I really wish they'd stuck with the genre gimmick. There was some actual potential there. Taiwan(ese puppets) #1 Golden Kamuy has always been super impressive at creating emotional moments in stupid situations. Great series.

And wtf was that 1 minute still of a bird's eye in Goblin Slayer? The scene goes from powerful to "omg symbolism" to "wtf is happening is my screen glitched?" as the seconds pass :D.

It's quite a step below the best in the genre though (e.g. Haikyuu) but I like that it focuses a bit on all the characters' regular life and not just their relation to the sport and the team. Apparently credits were supposed to roll in that bird eye scene, but Crunchyroll goofed (if you watched on there). The Japanese broadcast got credits at least.

Index I've basicly ragequitted after ep2, bunny senpai as well I've read the first 4 books of Unexplored Summon Blood sign, which is by the same author as Index I was astonished by just how garbage it was. It beggared belief. I actually read so much of it because I was fascinated just by how awful a book series can manage to be, and it kept getting worse with each volume. So I don't have a lot of hope for Index.

New SRW looks hype! I almost universally like the roster this time. Cowboy Bebop is getting in which is kind of odd, but I guess it makes more sense than Nadia in SRW X. I would used to say Harlock is an odd choice, but considering we had Yamato in V and Nadia in X, it fits. I love that Getter, Gaogaigar, Gunbuster, Votoms, and G Gundam are back!

The side series tend to be a lot better. I feel another Touma rant coming so I'll stop. Already tired enough from exams. For me I almost forgot about Touma, thought to myself "it can't have been that bad" so I give index another chance. Episode 1 is boring af because I just don't care about all this religious fantasy stuff that they do. I watch Episode 2 anyways because I'm a nice guy, give the series a chance you know? They show us Kayanon with nice midriff and things get much better from there for a second (entirely because midriff kayanon) and then this guy: shows up and I cringe and ragequit right there. The dude is 15, set-up as his schoolfriend who turns out to be some special agent superman who ends up + Show Spoiler + fucking shooting this old lady with a gun If it's all fluffy girls drinking tea while Railgun in the end turns out to safe the day I'm fine with it. If it's like in Mahouka where you can laugh about it I'm fine with it. But this dude above just makes me cringe. I can't take him or the series seriously and I can't laugh about it either.

edit: fruit baskets is apparently getting a remake, and a brand new team+author intervention so it should be something to look forward to. This is what the author had to say, and it sounds like there were big disagreements about the direction of the first anime: "I never once felt negatively about the project or thought that I didn't want to do it, but still, my first thought was “What?!” (lol) So, I made several requests right off the bat. One of those was to do it with a completely new team. Completely new. Every single person. I told [the producers], if you want to open the curtain again, then please make it all new. Please rebuild the Furuba world from scratch, with new everything. Another request was to not make the art look too much like my art. This was partly because my Furuba art is old now, pure and simple, and also largely because I was in poor health back then (you can find more details about that in the afterword to the Collector's Edition, if you're curious), so my drawing was awfully shaky. Because of that, I wanted them to rebuild the art as well. Other than that… Well, it was a mix. On some things I gave them detailed thoughts, and on others I gave them my blessing to do as they liked. The production staff promptly accepted my requests and worked to meet them, and I'm truly grateful to them all. Thank you again. They also readily gave me permission to visit the recording sessions sometimes, which makes me so happy. I don't actually do anything there; I'm just an observer. (Really, I don't do anything.) It's a pure delight, getting to see the reels a little early like that." https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1752256

Yes it has fallen behind Mahouka, SAO etc in the last years and recently the LNs have sold even less and less but that's going to happen with every series once you get to that amount of volumes published. So yeah, it's still really popular. I kind of assume that it's a japanese thing with their fascination about christianity as a "fantasy" setting. Kinda like there's people in the west who think of samurai and ninjas as cool because it's something different for us that doesn't exist in our own ... history I guess. In the same way I'd assume there are japanese people who think of all this christianity thing in Index as a really cool story element because it's "cool" for them while we don't give a fuck about that part of the story. I at least don't.
