It would have just been so good for Serral to win Katowice, if we'd be sure there will be many more years of Sc2(and IEM), I'd be fine with it. However, soO's time as a Sc2 player is running out and he needs a big victory.

If soO beats him in the finals again, does Dark become the King of the Kongs? They'd be tied with 9 2nd places in Premier events though one of Dark's 2nd was the Cross Finals and that doesn't really count in my opinion. Dark has 8 ro4 losses to soO's 3, so Dark has a whole additional layer of futility over soO. That would also push Dark's record in finals against soO to 0-2 which is super sad since it is soO in the finals. The one thing soO would have going for him in terms of the futility championship is his stretch of futility started in 2013 while Dark's started in 2015 and was on hiatus at the start of 2016.

Hope for soO vs Stats finals followed by soO vs Dark, anything else will be one sided I think as Stats can easily take out herO and Dark's style is better suited to play against herO.

I mean even for his LotV standard this tournament has been pretty exceptionnal. He's probably at like 1b3 every 5 games. This is the best thing that Serral brings to SC2: not losing to these builds and forcing the other player to play a macro game most of the time. Main reason why Serral series are way more entertaining than everyone else on average. And since he doesn't die easily in macro games, they tend to be really cool if the other player has the upper hand at some point.

I don't understand how drop archons would be prefered, it's not like it counter nyndus. The response to drop archons is roach + queens, you just have to stop drone and to go mass roach + queens and add a nyndus and you got the perfect comp to make a nyndus all-in. On the other side, with phoenix on the map you can deny any overlord that can get vision for nyndus.

I think Innovation and Maru have already surpassed Life and Mvp in terms of achievements but that is just my opinion.

Gonna disagree on the hard counter part, people very regularly play the "wrong" side of that into a win and it's not as simple as people just rolling a dice on a tech building at X minutes into the game. Loads of little information plays into the choices made which weaker players aren't aware of.

Most of his final opponents were on an absolute tear when he faced them. The only ones he may have been favored against are Classic, Gumiho and ofc Solar in that IEM. Zest, Classic, Stats, Solar, Gumiho he was favoured against. The only ones he wasn't were Dear, and INno. Even against Rogue it was even imo Edit: and many of the finals he messed up big tim/choked big time He wasn't favored against Stats come on. By that point we were 5 finals deep already. In terms of form/who I thought would win, soO was favoured. That's ignoring his record of choking of course. At this point he could play almost anyone and I wouldn't favour him.

He should have beaten him 4-1 quite handily though. Zest had the hype but soO was the better player that series.

Stats seems a true juggernaut tho, i'm not sure soO's ZvP will be enough. I sure hope so, but theorically Serral would have matched better against Stats.

The ranks should fill as more csgo fans arrived hopefully the series takes 2 hours or so

What really killed soO those first two games was the lack of upgrades on pure roach ravager. He even forgot roach speed game 2. Once he added hydras and +1 in game 3 and then ended up going hydra bling in the rest he just crushed Stats. Man that was emotional

he hide his build approach against immo-archon build in game 1 and 2 he kept Stats in mid game outplayed Stats in game 3-5 then let Stats to self-destruct in game 6 so happy to see that soO finally win a major tournament every storyline has been fulfilled.. a foreigner win an event in Korea, a foreigner win blizzcon, and soO win a major tournament even if he didn't win GSL or Blizzcon, he already redeem himself with the money and honor like TY did before

I thought it was gonna be another 4-2 loss given how the series started. A sweet victory for soO not just about breaking the curse but also 150K check. That is like winning almost 6 GSL. Redeemed himself for all 6 GSL losses.
