if you really are indeed superman and can run for like 6 days straight then get on a fuckin dynamo and start help create electricity. until then take your insomnia and shove it up your ass.
i mean, most people I know that have insomnia... what do they do? nothing. they just sit around waiting as if expecting a big cup of sleepiness to slap them right across the face. if you're sitting around doing nothing well then you're not getting tired. if you're not getting tired no shit it's not gonna help you get to sleep.
You're not describing insomnia here either. Not being tired because you haven't done anything == silly, it =/= insomnia. Insomnia == you are tired as fuck but can't actually fall asleep. Insomnia is when, after a normal schedule of activity which makes you tired, you go to bed but can't fall asleep. It's typically stress induced and lasts 1-2 weeks. After a couple days your life just sucks, because you're completely drained physically and mentally, and no matter how many hours you lie in bed for you can't fall asleep. Going out and running or something doesn't help - believe me, I tried. Getting yourself more exhausted doesn't help anything. You get all the wonderful effects of sleep deprivation and such, and it basically turns you into a total wreck until it runs its course.

If you smoke, smoke a bowl. Will really help you fall asleep.

Exercise. If you can afford to put in a couple of hours hiking or jogging in the evening, that'll do it every time.
Get Tom Clancy books. Not the novels (most of which are actually interesting in some places) but the military technical/organizational nonfiction. Two to five pages will put you to sleep, guaranteed.
Listening to Gregorian chant also does wonders.

Lol, this is this semester, past semesters were 2-3hrs of sleep.

I have that problem too sometimes, the thing is to not "try" to sleep. Just relax, like you were taking a nap and you suddenly fall asleep.

does any1 know if sleeping pills r addictive? im really having a hard time falling asleep, i might have to resort to taking sleeping pills but at the same time i dont wanna become dependent on it...

go buy some sleeping pills. The kind with diphenhydramine. I suffer from insomnia, and thats usually what I do. If I screw up my schedule by staying up really late the next night I take 50mg of that stuff and fall right to sleep. Then force yourself up early the next day, and it should help you get on a better schedule. Also, try to avoid having bright lights around like playing bw (this always keeps me up), watching tv can help but sometimes keeps me awake, or I don't know what else. Try reading something also after taking the diphenhydramine that usually works also. Exercising during the day helps as well. Eventually, just try and taper off of the heavy dose and switch to benadryl, which has half the amount and then nothing. Lastly, recently I tried some muslce relaxation meditation stuff. I'm sure you can just google something, but its probably the best night of sleep I have had in awhile. I'm rambling, but this should make sense. Gl.

I think forcing yourself to wake up early is the best, but mostly just do something during the day that will be tiring such as school or work

I will be exhausted from the session that you will fall asleep.

There's nothing really doctors can do it about it, it just has to run its course. The times I've had it I just take benadryl when going to bed for a week or two, it's enough to help you start sleeping. Actual sleeping pills are unnecessary, I'd avoid them. As long as you're sensible about it there shouldn't be any risk of getting addicted to benadryl.

that's still not insomnia lol? my roomate got by on 4hrs of sleep somehow with an occasional nap every other week. props to him, but for me it's more efficient to sleep 2-3 extra hours and then be wide awake and work much faster throughout the day.
let me clarify: if you sleep, you're not insomniac. you sleep because you're tired, to regen. if you have insomnia, even if you're tired you cannot sleep. it sucks, it blows, and you think the whole world is against you. then you stop giving a shit about what was giving you a hard time (some bitch decides to break up with you for instance) and the stress goes away since you don't care anymore and then you sleep fine because a lot of it is stress based.
i think someone already said something similar to this.

I will be exhausted from the session that you will fall asleep. But what if the person is a chronic masturbator whose also an insomniac?

Typically I close my eyes and lay there, and don't allow myself to move at all costs. Also, turning out the lights is helpful, this includes all your night-lights.
