To people living in certain countries, paying USD 10 for a game is like you paying USD 45 (or more) for the game.

You can get 500 GB HDD for the price of the Remastered license in 2018, so I'm not really sure why would anyone bother about 8 GB. AI, I guess, is the worse problem for someone who loves it or needs it for some particular reason.

For 20 years since the game is released - this is like keeping aside $0,041 each month

And yes, you can play online on bnet with the free version, you just don't have the matchmaking option.

Dunno, for some people 8GB is a lot. I've been operating on a 32gb hard drive for the last 9 years without problems tho.

The complaint that 6+ of the 8GB taken up by the remaster is unnecessary for the game to be functional is valid and consumers putting up with it are a big contributor to the situation we have now: 100+GB downloads, 1+GB monthly patches, and horribly-outdated titles that perform worse than larger and more advanced games from years prior on the same hardware (e.g. SC2 and SCR). Do you really play scr? Cuz that 1gb monthly patches is bs..

The price is adjusted by location, for example here in Argentina it's about $3.75. It's funny that people still complain about the price even though it's literally less than the cost of a pizza.

What about the fullscreen, it doesn't work, any idea ?
|
Yes there's fullscreen, windowed, and windowed fullscreen. Non HD version (free SCR) does not support wide screen (there' black bars on the sides), but HD version does.
You get LAN under the players list online if i remember correctly. In any case, it's there.
Here's what you get with the free version (which is like the old/normal BW): Filter to make the game less pixelated on high resolution monitors (i think this is included but not 100% sure). There are 4 dedicated obs slots in the game. You can also zoom out/in in reps/obs. You see player screen borders on the minimap while obsing. You can follow the player screen/vision while obsing. While obsing/replay, see all player names/races and resources/supply/apm in top right (clicking on the name turns vision on/off). You can select multiple units in reps/obs, even from multiple players. In built apm display in games and after games. Played games list (shows map, players/races, duration, win/loss, date/time, and you can click to watch the replay). Replays can be stored in the cloud. You can open the friends list tab in the channel, and join your friends games with just 1 click, instead of typing the name/pw or looking for the game. You can rewind replays to any point in the game or skip forward. You can right click on an unit to follow it while in rep/obs. You can hide/show any part of the interface while obsing, to see more. No port forwarding needed. Turn rate can be set before game, 24 is max (higher than Lan Latency, I think?). There's also dynamic TR, which finds the best TR so you dont have to guess. Refresh game list button. You can also filter games by type, latency and name. 3 accounts per server. Account portraits (like in SC2). Additional cosmetic goodies. In-built support for EUD maps. Friends chat integrated with the Blizzard launcher (and the whole game is in the launcher as well).
Theres more...

Theres more... 1st thanks you for sharing what you know
sc1.16 has almost all that already, sorry but the things that I won't comment on is not notable features in my POV ...
In the free scr replays, no mini-map camera location and no zoom out (nobody cares about observing games more than watching .rep), and no full screen (Do you expect me Blizzard while I can play sc1.16 in fullscreen, to bear this !).
Selecting multiple units in reps/obs from multiple players is not of much use I think, as I said before advancing observing is there before and allow you to see group of units from one player, what's inside a transport (Bunker, Shuttle, etc) which I think scr paid players are deprived of, along with things like production panel that displays in-progress & completed units, along with very advanced replay analysis feature like in the CoachAI which I think could be applied to obs-mode but not yet.
But how to compete with something like http://www.openbw.com/replay-viewer, more features? no kill it, make scr reps incompatible.
I can actually although I'm not good @ c++ do many things better than those developers does.
I also thought http://bwreplays.com/ wasn't working for me because I use v1.16, so I downloaded scr free, but no .rep worked which means their entire database is corrupted!,
I can't keep ~8GB in my HD just to watch new PRO scr replays, I'm not even interested in that anymore (with much lower functionality than other 3rd party replay viewers does), you disappoint me again Blizzard, and I have to delete it again !

You can't use fullscreen? I've never had any trouble with that at all. Not sure why you can't, though.

No I can't, I tried all the 3 display modes, I'm using it without logging to Blizzard account though, I don't think this matters. I think I'm gonna keep it for day or 2 ?, I also liked that the menu which you select your race from doesn't hide when leave the mouse.

Shouldn't you try logging in before deciding that it doesn't work? Sounds like it could matter.

Still no, I mean the wide black border are there on right/left of the screen, one thing I think about right now, is that sc1 doesn't need Remastered, but a game like Nightmare Creatures does.
I thought in the past that I can't log in and comment in Blizzard forums unless I buy one of their games, But no, that's good, but still that doesn't make me tolerate how far scr from sc1.16, I just deleted scr from my HD ):

It seems like you're just nit picking over things that are easily fixable. It's a bit ridiculous when you consider it's a 10 dollar purchase. It has a matchmaking ranking system + graphics update which are refreshing. Any modern game will have up to 500mb-1gb patches per update. I don't know anybody who doesn't own a 1tb hard drive in the year of 2018. Should purchase one if you don't already own one. Everything is done via computer so it's only a matter of time before you'll need it especially if you play games.
Ultimately you're paying for graphics update and a ranking system. They update the maps every season, give little accomplishment icons for the ranking you achieve, profiles give all sorts of stats, you can download games from players just by going through their profile. There's a list of a ton of little things that people could list but the most important ones are the one's i just mentioned which is probably the main reason people bought remastered in the first place. If that isn't convincing enough then perhaps starcraft isn't a worthy purchase for you.

there is an option for the old black bars left and right in SCRM maybe turn that off. SCRM wasn't perfect when it came out and it still isn't but you srsly sound like someone who wants to complain.no matter what. SCRM is almost everything i ever asked for and i was suprised it cost as little as it did.

It’s only 8 freaking GB! Are you guys still on windows 98 machines with 1gig hard drives? Does 8GB take too long to download on dial up? Most games are 30-60GB nowadays, 8 is nothing. Storage has never been cheaper! And the games itself cost practically nothing.

No mate, I'm not nitpicking, I really think that people who aren't using 3rd party tools like Chaos, mca64 will have a very hard time understanding the game, especially if they're new.
That's good that you can get replays from players just by going through their profile, but how effectively/closely you can watch it ? (you don't even know how many workers each player has from scr replay, you can't easily know when this player 3rd started even with the replay rewind feature, which is not new, you'll have to catch a pen and paper for that), it deserves the 10$ of course, but not for me, I mean it has nice social feature, the graphic is nice for watching ASL indeed (with few exceptions).
If you make a research on just 1 feature that 1.16 support like BWAPI, you might curse scr.

If your knowledge about the possible things you can do with 1.16 is like me, you might complain more than me (its just my sincere review), I was hoping that scr replay watching has any comparative advantage over other tools, I was actually planning to use both scr, sc1.16, but what are you talking about man, I can't even play the game with the bad SD in fullscreen for the so-called free !!!, its similar to someone working most of his life as a doctor then decide to work as an engineer.
