I bit the bullet and bought the standalone game and payed the extra $10 for a classic controller pro. My local Gamestop were out of non-reserved bundle packs. Can't wait to get online, still need to make a character. I might play online later under sixduck if anyone wants to play. If there is more interest in this game I'll edit the OP to include people's character names.

I won't be hitting up online just so soon. Needa get my bearings, been awhile since I've played a monster hunter.

You select a world server, they had like 5 servers. Free, Expert, Rookie etc. Then after you choose your world server you choose like a channel/lobby that holds up to 100 people. These are known as cities or city walls I believe. From there you can join arena rooms(i think) or regular rooms. I haven't tried to start a room yet, but I'm pretty sure you can password it and make private ones. The online is pretty easy to get used to and the lag isn't that bad. People have progressed pretty far already though, but there still a ton of noobs.

Wiimote - Freely use the "opener" attack any time you want. I have not found the stun attack though. Recording enemies on the fly, ez pz. Easily move around map while navigating menu. Swimming sort of a hassle. Wiimote positioning effects commands... can effect commands in ways you don't want. Classic - Requires you to sheath the weapon before you're able to use items or use you're opener attack. Recording enemies a bit of a hassle. Very easy to stun enemies... Pain in the ass to move and navigate menu. Swimming is easier. I find controller easier to simply attack with. Sort of odd selecting items, though you get use to it. I don't even bother with Setup 2 for the classic controller that's just an abomination. Anywho, yeah I just pretty frustrated with the controller setups for this game.

I found the setup to be basically the same as playing on a psp

There are ones made for the nintendo wii exclusively by logitech, but they are $30 retail. Anyone have any suggestions?

Anyone have any suggestions? why not just get a $5 generic usb keyboard with 6 or 10 ft extension cord? as for cheap wireless keyboard, maybe around $15 in microcenter.

I freakin hate gobul, so annoying in the water but on land he is cake. I really dislike the underwater combat lol. It's a refreshing/new concept but its so difficult with the camera to dodge monsters. Though I just fought a rathian the other day, it was a walk in the park since I hunted so many in MHFU. They changed up her moveset a bit to make her more devastating. I really like hunting her, too bad her armor sucks

Least favorite fight is really Uragaan, I really hate how hard he can hit and the margin for error can be pretty small. Also bombs suck, the chin thing is pretty okay. HR urgent quests are so lame for the final 4 star. A Rathalos AND a Rathian at the same time and they can pretty much two shot you.

I think the most intense fight was the capturing Qurupeco, in that fight he was able to call Diablos. That was terrifying, the first time I saw Diablos drop from the sky and charge at me... . But yeah... "HR urgent quests are so lame for the final 4 star. A Rathalos AND a Rathian at the same time and they can pretty much two shot you." This, agree. What's everyone using for weapons? I'm enjoying the SnS a lot. Switch Axe was pretty interesting though...

Troublesome Pair (Los/Ian fight) shouldn't be too bad if you've played MH games before :V

It may sound like a huge investment of time, but it is totally worth it. Nothing like cutting up a large monster AND then carving it up for its skins/hides/soft parts for you to make weapons and armor out of.
