Staal's contract was dumb, and I do like some of the youth the Wings have back there, but I think it's not even close. Obviously there is a difference between Hank and Howard, and I do think Detroit is good this year, but the Rangers are just deeper Where is the evidence of this defensive depth? Rangers surrender more shots on goal than Red Wings, their PP is weaker and their PK is tied.

pre yandle trade I think it was closer to even, but that deal definitely made them an elite unit defensively (even if they will be fucked in a few years with girardi/staal).

The sharks are breaking my heart rn. They could be so good, but there are obviously so many problems with management. Every page with San Jose fans is full of comments about how much they hate Wilson and how much they want him to go. I honestly think the fan base loyalty to Jumbo and Patty makes them untouchable unless they don't want to return. It's fucking stupid that they can't get their shit together this late in the season.

Image, this will be the first time in like 10 years that New York will have two pro franchises that are both relevant and competitive. If I was Bettman I'd definitely rig the East so the Isles-Rangers thing happens. The MLB Subway Serise from teh Mets and Yankees was a massive rating bonanza for MLB so I'd imagine a Rangers Islanders would do well too. So Kadri is getting sat for 2 games because he's childish or something? Wilson recently said he felt like Kadri never listened to him. If thats the reason, I think kadri is on a two way deal. Why not ship him to the Marlies for a bit?

I know next to nothing about the contract side of NHL,so I could be very wrong but I thought the whole point of a two way contract to be able to send your players down without going through waivers? Regardless of games played?

If I was Bettman I'd definitely rig the East so the Isles-Rangers thing happens. I agree that it's something they absolutely had to do with the move and momentum they have, but It was only like 5 years or so that NJ, NYR, NYI were all in the playoffs. I think buffalo too? sitting Kadri is fucking retarded, more of the same stuff of a dumpy coach or franchise finding themselves a young scapegoat. It's gonna be hilarious when he moves the second he's given a chance and promptly becomes a solid 60-70pt guy. SJ's total fumbling of the Thornton situation has been nothing short of a disaster. That was so stupid, and they've been doing a lot of questionable things since then. If you're gonna create that kind of bad will in the locker room with Marleau and Thornton, fucking trade them. But realistically, if you were gonna take the C and piss them off, it would have been more wise to trade them first. Now with everyone knowing what a disaster it is there, they will get low balled to shit on Thornton, who is still a very very good center.

I like seeing Montreal lose, but Price and Subban are awesome dudes and great players. Maybe when the team finally cans Bregevin and Therrien's horrible as they will still be able to make use of their primes. Therrien has sabotaged every single team he's coached with his system, and Bergevin's moves have aided in making the team more filled with pluggers entirely dependent on Price winning 2-1 games for them while facing 40 shots. A pointless game of chicken with the team's best Skater cost them millions in the long run, and he actively filled the forwards with a bunch of pluggers like Dale Weise, Smith-Pelley, Torrey Mitchell, etc. It's similar to the bs in Toronto, but Price, PK, and the rest of the defense are miles better than their counterparts.
