To take just one example from the BW dogmatists' canon of HoTS and WOL criticisms, X spell is "bad game design" because it's an anti micro spell. Since the BW dogmatists believe that BW is perfect in every way, I find this criticism extremely hypocritical given, e.g., the importance of the arbiter and the stasis spell in pvt. Everyone is entitled to his opinion but we do not need to be subject to blatant hypocrisy. I also find it extraordinarily arrogant of you to imply that there is an agreed set of rules you must follow for good game design and that you know those rules inside and out, as though you've successfully developed an RTS game in the past. When you say something like "bad game design" you should instead say "I simply do not like X feature" because that is all you can mean. Clearly, it is possible to criticize HoTS, but the exceptionally arrogant way you and a bunch of other BW dogmatists go about it is simply nauseous. you'd probably hear less complaints if forcefield was a t3 spell, cost 150/150/2 minutes to research, and could only be used from a unit that took 4food/3 minutes to build, which in itself could only cast 2 forcefields at a time. atleast the arbiter could fly, i guess?

I'm going to pretend for a second that you're not trolling. Obviously you are, but let's just go down that path for the fun of it. If Goldeneye and Ocarina of Time are not good games, what do you call a good game? WoL? Take it easy on my sides. A person can only handle so much laughter. A blind kid could tell you Ocarina of Time is an amazing game. The music alone is too sick. And if you have 20/20 vision, then it's a mystery how you got yourself to stop playing the game for long enough to try playing something else. Goldeneye? Come on. Be real for a second. The single player was amazing. Everyone was trying to beat those levels under certain times to unlock stuff. Even after you did, you still wanted to better your times. The replay value was insane. And, if you had any friends, it's just not possible to not call it one of the best games. The fun to be had playing multiplayer in Goldeneye was unrivaled. It's a digression but a point is to be had. People that are hating on HotS have taste like Scrubwave. In other words, they don't have any taste. They just like to hate. They have a hate quota to fill and apparently HotS has fallen victim to it. Show us what a HotS hater likes. Look how many people thumbed that down in comparison to people that liked it? Just because you can attempt to debate anything doesn't mean there is a debate to be had.

The 5th most searched for term in 2012 as rated by Google. The game where they banned thousands of accounts for using bots just last month. People need to stop drinking their own Cool-Aid. It sold that much because of the branding/reputation of Diablo 2 and other blizzard games from the past. Doesn't mean it isn't a steaming pile of shit. I was even convinced to buy it for the PvP (which was never released). I played 2 days and never touched the game again.

Warcraft 3 for example had neutral camps, several heroes, 4 races and a great custom game system. Starcraft 2 has managed to make the first three minutes into mind numbing repetitive bullshit. Has managed to nerf strategies down so that there is at most one or two paths you can choose to play. There are so few units that its always the same shit. Hots now brings what: A retarded alternative of the hellion und a copied mine from Brood War, at most three units for the other races, a broken balance, lame maps which all look the same, a campaign about a lousy story with more logic holes than in cheese and a dying competitive scene. Time to leave the board before i sink with it. Wait, you are praising WC3 for not being repetitive? LOL. You see the same builds every single game with almost no change in anything. The only things that differ are how well they micro each game. The only thing I can agree on is the custom game system. Although the Arcade is very good, I feel that it came too late after a lot of people left. Hope HOTS can fix that.

Im pretty sure we are just Blizzard spoiled. "If the game isnt brilliant then its only worth my time to shit on" Seems to be the mentality of kids today. In truth, its blizzards fault, they created this community monster Or you can go play the recycled brainless COD, Madden, Halo series.

That is the weakest argument I have heard subject and there is no evidence to back that up in any way. I know people who are still enjoying the game right now, as I type. Just because Diablo 3 did not appeal to a small, but vocal, subset of the Diablo 2 super fans does not make the game terrible. People need to stop using the opinions of the small, insular community they are part of as god given fact.

I especially like that he is comparing SC2 to the WC3, where balance is abysmal in my opinion, and that coming from the guy that played WC3 a lot more than BW and SC2 together.

Never ever ever ever use metacritic userscore for a game as popular as diablo. Most are 12 year old retards, i remember just after release where the servers were buggy, the game had a score of like 1.2. People just went, "cant log in right away, and my mom says i have to go to bed now, worst game ever you're all whores" Or however 12 year olds talk

People on the last pages I browsed (page 40~43) give much better grades. Aside from that, it seems half of the planet bought the game anyway, so even though some people are bitching about it so much it was at least a financial success for Blizzard which is nice. They are still an awesome developer imo contrary to what some negative nancies are preaching. And Diablo 3 is certainly not a bad game. Not my type of game after having completed it once, but bad? Nah, wouldn't say that. On January 03 2013 02:28 Scrubwave wrote: Ouch. Can't be THAT bad. Buying hots after what they turned WOL into and the diablo 3 fiasco? No thanks. Bad troll. i do recall browder saying something along the lines of "we don't want to make the game too complicated for new players" sure. but given the way things are turning out, it might be that we need some 'complicated' mechanics to make the game more appealing... list out the problems that we have (deathballs, stale gameplay, etc.) and really brainstorm out of the box!
