The other big reason is that the blizzard map pool is getting seriously far away from the progamer map pool. The metagame in pro games simply can't be played on blizzard maps. Especially as a zerg I feel that on the GSL maps I have a good chance to beat both the other races while on blizzard maps they still have a lot of really horribly bad elements on their maps. They keep on adding maps with rocks in the way of third bases or ridiculously long distances to thirds and they don't understand that this completely destroys zergs chances to play anything but all in coinflip styles. It's so retardedly obvious that rocks ONLY severely affect zerg as terran and protoss WILL have units that can kill those rocks before they need to take it. Forcing zerg to play 2 base vs 2 base has completely ruined the zerg ladder experience on most maps. The only map where zerg can go 3 base vs 2 base safely is antiga and that shit still has gold in the middle and an impossible 4th base. This has beens aid before but it's absolutely true. Blizzard needs to scrap ALL their maps. They have not produced a single map fit for tournament play save maybe metalopolis which also happens to be the most straightforward boring map ever made and HURDUR it has a gold base in the middle! I wish blizzard would just fucking swallow the pill and use a mixture of GSL/MLG/IEM/IPL maps that are NOT made by themselves. They design team has shown again and again that they have no understanding of the game on a higher level. I could type up walls of text on every map on how its either imbalanced in favor of zerg or terran or protoss at really crucial and gamebreaking moments but who want's to hear that rant? I also don't feel like typing it up since I know blizzard will ignore it and 50 gold-platinum players will critisize my understanding of the game.

Other thing... well, its really frustrating to play TvP's for me... and i get lucky if i ever get matched up against a Z player and even more rarely against a fellow T. Seems like the big mayority of players are either P or Z players. I think the last about 20 games ive played against 10 protoss, about 6 zergs and 4 terrans, and 2 of thoses T's where random players who got T :S So thats the reasons why i dont ladder much lately. Its time consuming and its usually TvP after TvP, wich is one of the most frustrating games to deal with as T because if you dont manage to kill the Toss before he gets double forge a couple collosus and templar tech you are pretty much done. Dunno about ladder "fear", its something that will always be there, the anxiety of losing and the strong feeling that you MUST win. Its part of any competitive game, even more on thoses who rely heavily on speed and decision making of a single person. Some kind of incentive for laddering? well i guess the points are nice, new portraits and stuff, things to customize your army, etc. but thats already there, after playing Sc2 since the release i got barely 403? wins as 1vs1 T, havent played with any other race for 1vs1 ladder. and about 680 total wins as ive started playing 2vs2s random previous seasson, the amount of achievements and decalls seems rather unatainable for me.

Perfect anecdote here should explain why I have no interest in 1v1. Play one match as P, beat a zerg and he BMs me the whole game and afterwards. Play a match as terran, I get proxy marauder rushed. 3rd match is against protoss, and I get cannon rushed and lose. 3 matches, all were garbage because people insist on playing the way I described above. I completely agree, you can play the game however you see fit, but wow it takes so much away from what a good match can actually be. Anyway, because of that nonsense (which is actually the rule, not the exception) I enjoy spending my time playing 3s with friends and watching GSL.

After all these Terran nerfs it's no real wonder why either. I recently gave up T for P. And ever since I did laddering has been boring. I'm at 5 PvP, 1 PvT, 1 PvZ lol Hence, I'm now involved in a long game of Civ 5. Lol

Some players can't loose and are frustrated because of that, if you are one of that guys I think SC2 and every other comptetive online game is a bad game for you(maybe try an EA Game or WOW :D) . You need the mindset that you can learn a lot from lost games and not the mindset damn I lost, my opponets race is OP. shitty game. Let's face the facts each race can win against each other race so don't whine and have a look at the replay to find out where you lost. The same for Counterstrike, LoL, WC3, SC1. I played Counterstrike a long time before playing SC2. If you play CS comptetive you also need the ability to take a loose and learn from it. In my opinion Blizzard must not make changes to make the game more attractive for causal gamers. This would be like taking the Queen out of chess to make it easier understandable for causal chess gamers. The only thing Blizzard can do to make SC2 more attractive for causal gamers is to make a Online Campaign where maybe 2 or more Guys can play with different races the Campaign and get like super upgrades and stuff, tune there units and play together against AI. This would be a fun thing for some guys I think.

As for myself, I am finding sc2 to be just as fun as it was to begin with, but for lower level players I imagine the game can just be too frustrating to bother improving (sorry if I sound elitist).
