Because your current initiative to distribute keys among most active communities does more harm than good in my eyes. I was really interested in joining your ladder (218 inactive players for a big part of 1000 keys... lol easy deal) but upon learning about your ways I will not do it for now. Maybe later. You know what you are not growing the local scenes. You are taking the bonuses from the Blizzard and offer those to already big communities. All you do is encourage big communities to grow THEMSELVES while strongly demotivate the nonexistent ones to even appear. If we didn't do that, then there would be no incentive for you to bring more players from your country to play with! If we don't distribute by country, then players from countries that are already active on ESL would have an even more enormous advantage. This doesnt even make sense. First you say there is an incentive (for active countries) and then you say without it the same countries will be even at bigger atvantage... Can you just explain the actual algorithm for the keys distribution? The more people from a country play, the more invites they get. We have a fixed number of invites, ergo the number of invites is based on the number of players in your country divided by the number of players total. At the same time we will try to give every country at least one or more invites. So this is basicly a proportion with the exception it favours the least developed scenes by offering at least 1 invite. Ok you convinced me. So what do I have to do to get a Ukrainian invite? Play most games during which period? Will you ban players who instant leave every game or just 6 pool all the time? Are you trying to say you are against the nurturing of local scenes? If so, then it's fine for you to have that belief. What? Didnt I just say I'm ok with your approach?

This is going to be really tough to deal with btw. Lots of people are just going to abuse the system to the max and I see no way you can make it fair for everyone. Lots of people will just cheese all day, I guess that's alright because it's still playing.
Some people are going to leave or trade wins, this can be checked in replays and such - but still a lot of work.
But the worst thing will be the people who make new accounts and join in less "developed" countries and mass games there. There's almost no way to prove they arren't from the country they're pretending to be. IP's can easily be spoofed and I doubt you'd ask everybody if they are who they're supposed to be in their supposed language.
But still GL, hope lots of legit people get these.

What is this ladder and how do we play on it? I am confused, can someone please explain to me how to play on esl ladder? Thanks!

Is this most points or just most games? Also, how do you find game...?

No idea what I'm doing here... I signed up and tried to get a match going, something pops up and finds a match. Then we just sit there, not sure what to do. I type in chat that I don't know what to do, he replies the same thing. I see a "howto" link on the side, click it, now my chat is gone and the howto page isn't giving me any good information. All I have now is this match page but can't chat with the guy any more.

What are we supposed to do?
*edit* I found the "Play vs" button at the top which opened the chat again, but looks like my opponent isn't in there anymore, so he probably closed the chat accidentally also or just got frustrated and left. Is this thought to be intuitive by your dev team?

Been trying to find an oponent for ages now, this is trash.. How am I suppoost to rack up dem wins when I cant even find an opoennt.
Edit:
Unfortunately, no suitable opponent could yet be found. What would you like to do? Continue Searching Stop Searching
4 times in a F*#&ing row now.. Whats the point..

I must admit, I'm finding opponents, but it takes forever, and the website is just miserable to work with... I'm only suffering it out because i only see like 3 American players with more than 10 games played... It does feel like a huge waste of time though, and if I don't get a key after all the effort i'm puttting in, I simply won't support ESL ever again, because this is largely time consuming.

I finally manages to get a game under the "Play Vs now!" but its taken over 20 minutes to find a 3rd game.
Is there a quicker way of finding oponents, I really dont care what league I play against.. I just want to play some games.
|
sadly this is nothing but a huge waste of time for a beta key. I played 5 or 6 games and all of them have been 6pool/cannonrush/4gate shit. This whole concept of playing as much possible is really stupid and in the end only hurts ESL´s effort to promote their ladder.

I registered on the ESL site like 4 hours ago and still waiting for that password or activation to be sent to my email... I tried to get a new one but it says:
You have already requested a new password within the last 24 hours, please wait until you get the email or wait until tomorrow for a new try. Is blizzard just trolling us so that we learn how bad the competition is and appreciate the battle.net more?? Because I really do.

The site is so awkwardly designed i cant seem to search for another opponent after 3 games, any help? I really liked the productions esl has made before so I hope they can do as well here :\

sorry guys but i must laugh hard when i read your posts. You just find out what every german player knows for long time
ESL-website is the worst of all gaming sites...
This website is like a puzzle game. I always do good in flash-puzzle-games but this one is just to hard for me. I gave up long time ago.
The only good thing is the option to rate your opponent after game for bm and fairness. This makes sure people are not total assholes in esl ladder.

Played 10 games so far and have encountered no cheeses. Unless you count the 4 gate in a PvP :D
Rest were really good macro games and every player I have played so far have been diamond and up.
A good idea, but unfortunately I can see many people abusing the system...

I'd play if I didn't feel like I'd probably have to play from now until Oct.4th straight just to have a chance...
Changing it to whoever gets ranked the highest after that time probably would have been fairer.
