I don't even know why! I genuinely consider it to be a great, great game. It has its flaws, but what game doesn't? The whole experience seems really cool to me. I just think I don't play that much because my friends don't play it, and while I am in a guild, it's just not the same. GW2 is actually the only MMO that has made me enjoy PvE, and the PvP/WvW experience is also really good. I don't know, I try to get into it again every now and then, but the same problem always arises: I don't have much company.

I've actually found it quite innovative. It's the only MMO that's managed to properly integrate PvE, PvP, WvW, dungeons, world bosses, meta events, exploration, achievements, roleplaying, trading and crafting seamlessly such that persons of any taste would find their favoured aspect important and useful. There are many small innovations that make everything feel so seamless and polished, even if it doesn't innovate in the sense of a sandbox with FPS targetting. There's always stuff to do and new things to try, and minus the subscription fee, I think it does a great job of giving and updating content without any monetary stick to force you to keep grinding. I think it's actually on sale for 40% off atm, so it's a great buy if anyone is interested.

I highly recommend this purchase since even if you're getting into it solo you're going to enjoy it way more (and longer) than most modern single-player RPGs. For those not entirely convinced I present this review: Fun game that doesn't force you to keep playing it. You can quit at whim and get back to it one year later without any worries.

That's because you won't miss anything from the "story" they release each 2 weeks since it doesn't matter and is wasted time anyways. Powercreep could put you down though. Angry Review is pretty out of date btw. The starting screen of the video with "The weapon based skill system is very flexible & expandable" alone is pathetic.^^

It's more of a completion/achievement creep. The difference in gear between someone who spend 10 hours a day in the game and someone who spends 1 hour a day in the game is probably 5% stat difference and 95% aesthetic difference. I think that's great and win-win for most of the MMO demographic.

I think that's great and win-win for most of the MMO demographic. It will be way more than 5% stat difference. Someone who play 10h/day will probably be full ascended and thus will have 15 % (without armor) more dmg than people with exotic. And I doubt that people that play 1 hour a day will get full exotic as fast as someone that plays 10h/day will get full ascended. GW1 had powercreep and that game was more about horizontal progression than gw2. I agree though, that it's not nearly as bad as in other mmo's but it seems like a curse you can't completly remove from MMO's...

I agree though, that it's not nearly as bad as in other mmo's but it seems like a curse you can't completly remove from MMO's... First of all, the 5% and 95% comparisons were between stats and aesthetics. Second of all, the base stat difference between exotics and ascended equipment is only 6% - and that difference only applies in the few slots where ascended equipment exists. All in all, the difference is negligible compared to any other MMO that I've played. GW2 is definitely more about horizontal progression than vertical grind for better stats. Third of all, a player who plays 1 hour a day for two to three months can easily be fully geared for whatever purposes they want to pursue - whether it be WvW, dungeons, PvP, open world PvE or just living story content. It's fine to not like the game personally for you, but you are exaggerating quite a bit. :o Edit: Maybe it's just me, but I like the fact that there is an asymptotic progression towards the highest end of gear. Aiming for ascended and legendary equipment is 95% about its exclusivity (i.e. aesthetics and vanity) and only 5% about its stats, which are very, very barely above those of exotics. The idea that stats are equalised also gives players much more psychological freedom to do whatever they want to do, which is very fresh to me since most MMOs are very one-dimensional in the sense that everyone is rushing to reach the "endgame" and get the best gear to pwn others.

Well, we are both wrong. Currently Ascended gear makes an approximate difference of 10 %. Source I don't like asymptotic in a gw game, especially when they promised us that we can reach the power cap really fast (and short after getting to lvl 80). And maybe it's because gw always told you that BiS gear is so easy to get you won't even think of not getting BiS gear but I don't feel well not having BiS gear while I have no problems with that in games like diablo. I also think that the introduction of stat improvement doesn't make any sense if it won't continue in the future. And it stinks for WvW which is almost the only game mode I play. The thought of "yeah, if I had these items I would have done better" is annoying and the grind to get them is annoying as well. I guess you never played gw1 to see where I came from. Of course it has its flaws and added powercreep later (which was a huge mistake imho) but I can't believe that they parted from that system to go more towards a traditional MMO system that has the flaws you describe. I thought they would take the good part of gw1's system remove/don't repeat the mistakes and enhance it overall.

today when i hit lvl11 i realised they changed some talents and the build i was following was outdated. furthermore as i was looking through gw2 forums i noticed the BM builds were pretty shitty after the update. now i don't feel like playing anymore :/

Yeah I'm pretty addicted. There are a few things I would LOVE to be able to change but oh well... overall I can't complain. I miss certain things from GW1 but things are looking up for GW2's Living Story at least with the end of the current arc in 4 more updates. Hopefully we get back to the real action afterwards, as Scarlet has been pretty ugh. If they add Guild Halls and real GvG not just an area in WvW I will be pretty satisfied. Dyeing weapons would be great as well but I understand why it's difficult for them. Other than that I just hope they add a few more dungeons with Living Story content (not just replacing paths) and that we get to visit new areas on the map. Not a huge fan of messing with existing areas like they did with Kessex Hills for example. Thankfully it seems they are going to slow down their bi-monthly releases for a while and with the regular yearly holiday content added in hopefully they will have time to build some great stuff. Also now whenever I try to play another game I instinctively try to dodge roll everything for the first few fights... it's been embedded into me lol. My biggest qualm right now is arah path sellers. Starting to be annoying. I'm on the verge of just joining an elitist guild dedicated to arah because no one is doing paths; everyone is just selling (or scamming) paths right now. I mean my other option is to solo P2 but that takes forever. I got my first arah set when people were still using gw2lfg.com but with the ingame tool it's become a pain for that dungeon as everyone is too afraid to pug it. That's what's kind of a pain for GW2... it's hard to find a great guild that does everything. I have my real guild then I have a guild dedicated to FOTM and one dedicated to kill Teq. Now I need one for Arah heh. Everyone is too afraid of real content it seems, except if you join a dedicated place to do it.
