Nope, it's been changed back to 3. Read the latest Blizzard Q&A regarding future WCS plans.

People just don't like reading things by Blizzard or even when other's point stuff out.

Not sure why people want OGN out. Before, we had both OSL and GSL, two tournaments Koreans could go to for money.
[Edit] - I wanted to clarify what I meant when I said before. Obviously we still have OSL and GSL now but what I meant was, before we had them outside of the WCS system. Last year we had 2 OSLs (well technically one was still BW but it was still StarCraft) and 5 GSLs. 7 major tournaments for Koreans. This year we had 2 GSLs (well technically 3 if you count the non-WCS one) and 1 OSL. Next year, Blizzard said they wanted to do just 3? So that means if it stays the same, 2 GSLs and 1 OSL when before we had 5 GSL and 2 OSL.
Rain was almost the champion between OSL and GSL too (that type of hype helps keep the scene too).
No OSL just means less tournaments and potentially less hype. OSL and MSL (and at one point, GOMTV Classic) all coexisted at one point, so there's room for two major tournaments in one area.
Also less Korean tournaments is one of the reasons why many Korean players are going to NA and EU regions instead of staying in KR.

Sure Mr Chae can do what he wants when he makes his own StarCraft.
Sheesh, this is Blizzard we are talking about. Blizzard - the creator and owner of SC2.
It's astonishing that people can treat Blizzard with such little respect, especially when they are riding off the company's success.
Apologies if I misinterpreted the vague interview.

Tasteless because then he can keep just doing what he is doing right now and calling it the GSL anyway.
I hope this means a return to the old way. Post-WCS Gom has been not as good, but at no fault of their own. GSL before WCS was the absolute best. Though I am biased because I don't like WCS and think it is killing the ability of pros to stream and has eaten into too many other tournaments.

Really prefered GSL before WCS. If anything itl be worth it so I dont have to watch OGN next season.

I'm not sure what "we couldn't do as we wanted this year" means. Did Gom want to host more tournaments, but blizzard did not allow them to?

I want them out because the current situation isn't that they're arranging tournaments on top of GSLs/WCSs. Seems to me like in 2013 they half-heartedly ran two events with funding from Blizzard. Events that could otherwise been done better by GOM.
It doesn't really seem like they want to be doing anything with Starcraft anymore so let them go. I don't think anyone is calling for fewer tournaments but if we aren't getting more, then it would be nice to have the remaining ones be as good as possible. I was so happy when we got back to GSL with S3 after all the piggybacking. Chobra is great and I like DOA but overall the experience wasn't that good. Everything about the GSL is just so well done.

I would say there would have been 5 GSL's this year as per last year, it was a good number and flowed well.

Don't you think everything will be revealed at blizzcon?

The same way KeSPA treated Blizzard when they did Brood War broadcasts for almost a decade through OGN?
Sarcasm aside, I would rather have a happy medium where concurrent GSLs and OSLs run, but they're only limited to a maximum of three a year. Given the current environment, they could do two, running them concurrently with some overlap; e.g. GSL finals is during Ro16 of OSL and vice versa; which means that players peaking at different times can go deep in one tournament while the other doesn't have them (thus non Starleague matches of players doing deep runs = must watch games). Similarly, having two different tournaments give these tournaments a chance to have a broader map pool (2 maps specifically for the tournament + 5 standard ladder maps; or even 3 + 6 with options to ban out 1 standard and 1 non-standard map) give players more time and chances to do mind-games.
In any case, I'd rather have both OSL/GSL and have both give a fair chunk of Blizzcon points.

I wish they would do weekend tournaments in Korea like DH/MLG/IEM...

If OGN is out wouldn't it mean that the big Kespa teams are out as well? I can't imagine SK Telecom or Samsung dumping money on a game that's not even on TV.

I'm fine with osl handling WCS and GSL being GSL. At least korea will have more tournaments, and we may see foreigner compete in them again (especially GSL )

Yeah well 90% of it will be yes. There is a SC2 time on Sunday which is where im guessing there will be any news of SC2 happening there.
Im interested to hear what GSL is going to do. I don't there is much wrong with how they are running GSL at the moment, there is still other ways id rather it go but i like the most important side Code S. It is still clearly the biggest and best competition in the world of Starcraft and if you want to be the best at the game you have to be doing well in that tournament. So i hope they get to keep doing what they do and don't alter it and make it silly. (my nightmare is them introducing more BO1 series ;_; )

Let's get one thing straight here, Sc2 is successful IN SPITE of Blizzard, not BECAUSE of Blizzard. Back on topic though, I think it makes a ton of sense for WCS Korea to be a separate entity and to leave OGN/GSL alone because this gives Koreans incentive to actually play in Korea.

I think that speculating over this is exactly that...speculation.
No real news here.
