I usually go Dorans/Pot->2nd Dorans or start my Botrk
Most guides say this but i've heard guides are pretty bad. Some people i played with said triforce first, but i lacked sustain to win my lane against malphite(tank) You've heard that guides are bad? What does that even mean? If you want damage and sustain, then of course BotRK is better than triforce, as triforce gives no sustain. To be fair there's a lot of guides out there that are questionable. You just need to use your critical thinking I usually like to visit probuilds.net and check out a bunch of the games there. You can usually see who they laned against, the enemy teamcomp and try to see how that reflects on their item choices. You can compare between different games if you get the same pro playing the same champ a few times. Guides are essentially just advice. Saying that guides are bad is like saying that advice is bad. Like with most things, generally a good idea is to find a guide by someone who has the results to back up what they're saying. Some people would propose there is such a thing as "bad advice", yes.

Yeah, but that just means that SOME guides are bad. You can find people that say that there is bad advice. I doubt that you will find a single person that says that all advice is bad. Which is pretty much what you say when you say guides are bad. There are bad guides, but there are also good guides.

Lol I never said that, I merely took the other side of the argument from his reply of "What does that even mean???" Well I used some guesswork to interpret his "i heard guides are pretty bad" to mean this person is distrustful of using random guides on mobafire and decided he would ask in a thread in TL which I think is reasonable. I'm well aware of plenty of great guides (Thanks asmo)

It's less reasonable to trust advice from random people than it is to trust guides from random people. At least with guides they'll generally have some information about themselves.

I totally get what you're saying, I just don't think it's crazy of him to say "I don't like to use these guides I find online, can you answer this item build question". He can now interact with the responses given. Debate the merits of the given advice, which could be bad or good but other people may jump in and offer their input. That's what this thread is for...

Anyone with experience playing Taric or against want to provide me some tips? I haven't played much league after the new season and just played 2 straight games against him where it feels more like I am laning against a Taric more than the enemy ADC.
The stun threat controls so much space and I don't even think its worth trading against him because the only misplay he can do is miss a stun. Just wait for jungle ganks?

You *are* laning more against the Taric. Supports can be more of a threat than ADC's these days, up until the late-game teamfight phase; Taric's one of those.
Early on, Taric has long cooldowns if he can't punch you in between spells. Take advantage of that. He also goes oom easily; in trading against him you make him waste mana.
Mostly, though, exploit his lack of mobility. He has no mobility other than his fabulous feet, and no cc other than his long-cooldown stun. Don't let him whack you repeatedly; every whack lets him proc that passive, which means more spells.

Yep, best answer to taric = kiting. Never ever try to duel him straight up, even if you're riven he WILL kill you. When he goes for the stun use a dash or just walk away, his stun is really slow and the farthest you will be when it lands the hardest it will be for them to make use of it. It also deals a bit less damage if you're far.

His ultimate is his weakest element. Lucian is a lane bully and midgame powerhouse rivaled by few (if any) other ADCs and can fuck up most champions with his high damage skills and ridiculously awesome passive. Mana issues once held him back, but with his mana buffs as well as the QoL adjustment to his Q, he was put in an even better state. Couple that with people figuring out his best item build (TF -> BT -> LW or so) and Lucian climbed to the top of the charts.

Yep. If you let Taric do his "cast/swing/cast/swing/cast" rotation, refreshing his cooldowns constantly, you'll get nowhere. If you fight him while there's a real AD threat around to take advantage of his armor shred, you'll die very quickly. So don't do that.
But if you walk out his stun, he's left in a bad place. He needs to punch you in the face afterwards, and ideally he'd like to use his other skills and then punch you in the face again in order to really get his kit rolling. Taric thrives on extended exchanges in melee range, where he gets to reduce the cooldown of multiple skills again and again with his passive. So walk out his stun, and then continue blasting at him and his ADC. Taric can't do much at that point; his stun is on a long cooldown, as is his heal, unless he can come whack you. I've been known to waste shatter and the passive on creeps just to try to get my heal/stun up sooner, if I can't hit enemy champions; this is obviously good for the enemy.

I like playing beefy tanky champions like taric or volibear. Is volibear a good choice in games? I've been successful with volibear but I hear people say that he's not that good. Is taric a better choice or are they similar? I got my ass kicked when I laned against karma with volibear but that's about it so far.

From my experience, Volibear always always gets fed somehow. He's tanky with a lot of base damage.

Play voli if you like him, dont worry about what people say.

He got a lot of buffs with the defensive tree masters and can go both top or jungle fairly easy (although jungle is probably riskier). He is like Voli in that he has a lot of base damage and has the capabilities of running into the other team and simply not dying.
He is also super easy to pick up and wrecks in low level que because everyone gets caught out and he excels at punishing them.
