Interesting, I thought it was pretty well received on consoles.

I'm actually happy, that it is PC only, maybe they will return some of the simulation elements, that they removed or even bring back the movement system from the original. Would improve the game a lot in my opinion.

I want a slightly more realistic line of fire system. I was slightly disappointed by the absence of friendly fire in EU, and also being able to shoot at an alien that's hiding behind another alien (or a friendly).

Sold about a million between the two platforms, and sold about double that on PC. It was well received considering it was a strategy/tactics game with no console following.
I'm so hype for snakemen either way.

I think it did better critically than it did in sales. Plus there's mention of modding tools in the announcement which I assume are harder to get working on console than PC. I wouldn't be surprised to eventually see it ship on console minus modding tools.

wow thats really a new spin on the xcom series I like it ... will make no sense how you can hide from high tech aliens that control most of your population but who cares.
And I am fine if they only refine/expand their combat system. If it is pc exclusive others can mod in realism x3 .

They learned a great deal from Long War mod i guess, but being more mod friendly, of course, this may change with the actual release. It kinda looks like a re-skin tho, but i am a sucker for XCOM games. Anyways.

Now I'm waiting for someone to photoshop an image over the Situation Room, but where panic level is replaced with XCom 2 hype levels

Lol, that image.
To be fair, I think I recall reading interviews from Jake Solomon saying they wanted to include mod tools all along.

I would be shocked if they reverted.

It's okay because mods. Tiles still exist. It'd be easy to make TU's.

Wait, did I miss something from the story? Why does x-com 2 start with aliens ruling everything? Didn't we just blow/blackhole their brainogizmodudes at the end of x-com 1?

We know from what Jake Soloman has said that the Volunteer lives. That sort of points out that we got the temple ship to come to earth but we failed to take it out.
