Right now we've set threads to be spoilered for 24 hours. After this time the thread will automatically un-spoiler. The third out of four groups of the RO16 happened just over 24 hours ago which I guess is the one you're on (didn't have time to watch yesterday?). If it's working properly, it hasn't been protected for several hours now. It seems like the no-spoiler setting is for people who can't watch live but do keep up with it every day. If you can't watch within 24 hours and you'd rather browse TL than catch up on VODs, then the no-spoiler setting isn't really helpful to you. edit: Even though I have a fancy thing next to my name, I'm not staff, so don't take what I say as official. Just trying to think it out and provide some info.

I meant to say RO32 sorry.. I just kinda figured that they would never "unprotect" things. but it is logical

I meant to say RO32 sorry.. I just kinda figured that they would never "unprotect" things. but it is logical When I want to watch something later, I just stay off TL. Even though I access TL mainly directly to the "subscribed threads" page (so I avoid the front page), people tend to talk about recent results a bit randomly, which the checkbox also won't protect you from. I mean, I agree that browsing TL is different from catching up on a game, and a lot of people use TL for things that are not related to recent games, but if you really want to remain unspoiled, I think the only safe way is to contain your TL-addiction until you've caught up.

While that might be true, why else would you (re-)introduce a "Hide Spoilers" button? Of course TL staff can't go through forum threads and check which contains spoilers and such but I would at least expect them to flag spoilers in their front page news. For anyone wondering, herO & Ryung advance to Code S Round of 8, is still very visible on the front page right now, with "Hide Spoilers" activated.

As said in the second post, the "No Spoilers" option hides spoilers for 24h. From our perspective we think this caters to the needs of most people. We could be wrong about that. Would people prefer the ability to have "no spoilers" mean anything that was marked a spoiler is always marked as a spoiler, rather than have the spoiler status removed after 24h? Also leaving this post here for visibility; Poll: No Spoilers Options Leave it at 24h (15) Increase to 48h (8) Permanent (53) 76 total votes Your vote: No Spoilers Options (Vote): Leave it at 24h

I usually have to wait for the weekend to get enough time off. But I see how it can be different for different people.

Furthermore, I think it should be permanent since TL's more than just an SC news site with a lot of its own subforums, so "avoid TL if you don't want spoilers" is fair, but also not practical since someone may come here for any number of reasons.

Permanent is bad because while you maybe know that you don't wanna get spoiled for X, you might forget somethign else and then get spoiled by removing the permanent spoiler. If it is time based every single result/news has its own cooldown which seems better in that case. I don't care all that much though, i never understood why people care about spoilers in the first place

I will be honest, i rather know which games were good and watch these than watching every single one and most of them being bad/mediocre anyway. I can somewhat understand that you wanna have the excitement not knowign who won, but that's usually only a factor for me if i really care about certain players.

There are spoiler-free vods on TL? There are several spoiler free sc2 vod sites (have a google). sc2links.com one of the more popular ones afaik.

Just have a boolean flag for every news article whether it contains a spoiler (as I guess you have now) and then display only those news-items on the front page which are either not spoilers or satisfy the formula (current_date - news_creation_date) > user_spoiler_time. For people that are not logged in you could just default to whatever is the result of the current poll.
