Good radio show that I really like and someone translated one episode. While personally not that big of an Ayachi fan it is video rather than just voice-only in this case so it serves its purpose well. A couple translation mistakes here and there but you get the meaning more or less. The show's called "what are you making *insert VA name* say" though, not "what are letting her say" Worth the watch!

I mean, if you want OPM to be produced with the same quality as long-running shonen series, then you're probably not watching OPM. Animation studios are a mad grind-house. Shaft cuts animations completely to meet TV broadcast deadlines. Trigger almost killed themselves for Kill La Kill. As long as OPM stays the same level as S1, I don't really care how long the season takes.

I don't mind the time. Just the wait if all we're gonna get is 12 eps in 12 months. + Show Spoiler + And be real, the arc they're gonna do isn't monster association. Maybe the lead to it, but that doesn't need to be as visually stunning. The tournament was bad in the manga, save a few.

I still want to know where you got the information that we are getting 12 episodes in 1 year. There is no information in regards to how many episodes there will be as far as I'm aware. Might be 12, might be 24. It will air in spring 2019 so if it's 12 episodes it will take a quarter to air. The original info with Winter 2020 was wrong apparently.

+ Show Spoiler + This feels like a strange anime. I mean, it's not a bad watch and I've enjoyed the pacing too. It doesn't feel like matches drag out forever either unlike say Haikyuu!! (I do enjoy this though). I also realize that they keep hitting home her mentality, especially whenever her mom is brought up, but it feels like everyone who's aware of it just shy away from it. Like, it just seems so obvious that she's not herself at times, that she's really unstable. I don't understand why the discussion hasn't been brought up by her closest friend. We also saw that Nagisa heard the mom conversation at the end of the training camp so why no inquires? Same from the coach? Maybe it's because I'm a viewer and it just seems so obvious to me. I do admit that I like seeing her defeat opponent after opponent, especially her latest one hehe, but it would also be nice if the problem got acknowledged. Aside from this and some drama here and there, it's been an enjoyable watch. I currently am waiting to see what the hell kind of excuse the mother makes when she tries to explain to her daughter why she left her sick as a dog after a single loss. On a separate note, it seems like Mix is getting an adaption. Supposedly, the same school that Touch took place in, just 26 years later, but from reading what some folks are saying, the monthly manga means less details etc... Anyone here has read the manga and can give his thoughts? https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1732357

I have no clue if it's because I'm a bit tired of watching similar anime or that since I watch a lot of seasonal anime, I have less of my time tied up there this time around. I'm currently watching Black Clover, MHA and Overlord. I tried that Chiyo's day anime and while it was a fun several episodes, it feels like the anime is trying too hard at some of the jokes. Haven't had the urge to watch more so I just recently started and caught up with The Badminton play of Ayano Hanesaki! anime: + Show Spoiler + This feels like a strange anime. Anyone here has read the manga and can give his thoughts? https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1732357 Dont worry about Ayano's mother + Show Spoiler [sorta but not really spoiler] + The reason she left is even more stupid. --manga is a bit further than anime As a former high level badminton player what I like the most about the serie is how the matches/practice are depicted and from what's cannon how Ayano and Connie are so stupefyingly good they are basically just fucking around when they play anyone besides each other, it's like Elite ranked players against A/B casuals lol. Even Nagisa looks tame compared to them if what have been seen is to be taken into consideration, she could barely beat the out of shape Ayano that at the time played with her off-hand for crying out loud and has such a weak mentality she goes into a slump for years because she got stomped in one match (in what obviously have to be an open tournament no less!). What I dont like is how clichè it's starting to look they are going to resolve Ayano's issues + Show Spoiler + She'll meet Nagisa in the tournament Ayano in robot mode: "all I do is win no matter the cost!" Nagisa: "badminton is supposed to be fun!" Ayano in robot mode: "orly" Nagisa somehow win some points (the game?) and through the power of friendship wakes Ayano up.

1. Watch Evangelion 1.11, 2.22, 3.33. I've watched the full anime series + the two old movies from way long ago. Bought these and decided I should give em a shot. 2. Finally begin FMA Brotherhood 3. Legend of the Galactic Heroes 4. Considering putting YuYu Hakusho here. I watched it off and on on Toonami when I was young and it feels like I should give it a shot. But it starts really slow, so I have also considered just reading episode summaries of the first ~10 episodes. Critique? Anything I should be prioritizing above anything on my list?

LOGH is my #1 anime period, but FMAB is also excellent and Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the gold standards of shounen anime. Honestly I wouldn't recommend skipping any of the early episodes in YYH, as the Spirit Detective stuff kicks off relatively early after like 3-4 episodes.

I tried FMAB but it didn't take. Heard great things, just wasn't for me. Eva is a mess to me. It repeats the stories, adds characters, removes some. One of the movies has some weird shit going on with Shinji and Asuka. It was all just pretty fucked up.

Early FMAB isn't as good, because all that material had already been covered before in the 2003 anime, so Brotherhood sorta rushed through that stuff to get to the new, uncovered material. IIRC it takes like a dozen episodes or something. The early stuff isn't bad or anything, but its definitely not the same quality as the rest.

Still going Angolmois is pretty rote for what it is. However, it's unusually grounded for a show based on history. Usually they try to cram some genderbending or supernatural stuff in there. The last show I watched that was like this was what, Hyouge Mono? And that one had its own gimmicks too. Asobi Asobase is weird girls being weird. And sometimes jerks. Funny enough show though. I look forward to this one. Tonegawa... I still hate the narrator, but the content's on point. Ep 3 has a pretty brilliant gag. Corporate bullshit abound. I think this show is the first time I've ever seen an anime with an animated PowerPoint. I guess there's a reason why this spinoff is more popular than Kaiji. In any case, scans are dead so this is as good as it gets for the series. Hanebado is meh. It took them seven episodes to reach the real meat of the series. I enjoy the way they show the matches, but there's really not much else of note. Overlord has pretty much sucked since s1. The current arc is basically the first good content in a long-ass time. I probably would've dropped Planet With by now if it wasn't Mizukami. Tsukumogami Kashimasu is pretty good - one of the few shows I actively look forward to this season. Build Divers is still airing but it's boring. Lupin Part V is solid but nobody watches Lupin. So yeah. I'd say about half of what I'm watching is decent. Dropped Banana Fish is a soap opera. Grand Blue is just inferior to the original. Artstyle tends to change between mediums, but man, they really messed with the designs for some characters. I think a lot of the jokes are paced better in the manga - the paneling helps in ways that pure timing can't replicate. So yeah, read the manga. Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes was just bad. It's basically Hyouka - toothless mysteries with a not-romance. Yama no Susume s3... lacks content? Which is kinda funny, considering the show is only 10 minutes per episode. I honestly enjoyed the show more when it had 2 minute eps. On August 18 2018 05:45 Dangermousecatdog wrote: I'm rather enjoying Asobi Asobase for this season. The opening song is a bit jarring though. The OP is a joke that only really works before watching ep 1, so it pretty much outstays its welcome by default. On the other hand, the ED is fantastic. It's been a loooong time since there's been a good SZS-like OP/ED. On August 18 2018 04:39 Mohdoo wrote: Mohdoo's current anime queue: 1. Watch Evangelion 1.11, 2.22, 3.33. Frankly, there's no point in watching Rebuild until the last movie comes out (if ever).

3.33 leaves "much to be desired" only insofar as I think it's fair to reserve judgment for the last movie because of how important the last movie is to its execution. But 3.33 on its own has a lot of great points despite people's reservations and concerns about it veering completely off the rails.

The hand sign scene in the manga was hilarious but in the anime it simply didn't have any impact at least for me. But I love the manga too much to drop the show, sort of like how I forced myself to at least give the new Berserk serie a chance. Really hope we get to see their physics professor. Those lectures were hilarious.

If anything, the movies have much more coherent thematic structure even if the superficial sequential "logic" of the plot seems less focused. But that has less to do with the movies and more to do with the fact that most of Neon Genesis Evangelion as we know it was Monster of the Week format/here's an Angel followed by how to defeat it. 3.33 leaves "much to be desired" only insofar as I think it's fair to reserve judgment for the last movie because of how important the last movie is to its execution. Executed well enough, but it's pure vanilla. Take it or leave it. 2.22 I legitimately enjoyed. It was the first indication that something special was happening, and ended on arguably one of the highest highs of the entire franchise. It's hard to even comment on 3.33. I basically remember nothing about this movie (having watched it five years ago), and even reading the synopsis doesn't really jog my memory. It just didn't leave an impression at all. I dunno. IMO it's difficult to justify watching the series when so much hinges on the final one, and there's no indication that it's even going to happen. It's almost been a decade since the first movie. I guess it's like Half Life. There's some cool shit in there, but the story effectively feels dead.

They rushed it compared to the 2003 anime but that was because the 2003 anime added quite a fillers in the early episodes while FMAB stayed true to the manga. In the end I think the beginning in FMA was pretty boring regardless of which adaption you are talking about so I enjoyed FMAB more because it got into the meaty stuff quicker - and it didn't fully derail after 30 episodes like FMA '03...

Took the good from the second one and just flushed it down the toilet. But at least it looks nice...? I guess...?
