That could mean 10 or 1000 sales. The reason he's tweeting this is to put a positive spin on the event, they want us to think 'well if it's a huge success and everyone else is buying it, I might as well'. I'm not saying he's wrong or right but there's a reason why he puts this out there at this specific time.

Liquid's house, Liquid's rules, and the community base consists of people who accept this, so of course it is up to TL to decide things. Who else? From the comments in this thread it seems as if most of the community LIKES this decision so I think TL got it right in every way. Since TL is not a "for profit" enterprise it seems reasonable to make some distinction between free-ish events and ppv links, and there is SO much info still about the MLG winter arena. I dont hate MLG for trying the 20$ ppv, and as a gold member I am still undecided if I want to pay the $15. I suspect for me it will come down to whether I have enough to do over the weekend or not, and if Finland can keep me entertained. (Woohoo, first post from an utter bronze n00b aiming to become a silver or gold n00b some day. I consider myself to be a pillar of this society, making the rest of you look good AND watching your games/streams and even paying for it on occasion.) That's because most of the community think the decision is "ZOMG MLG IS HURTING ESPORTS CUZ PPV IS SO BAD AND STUFF", when that's not what the decision is about at all. Had they made this post about one of GOM's arenas, people would just have been confused as to why an event being PPV makes it any less deserving of a notification of when the event starts. @poll: That's 41% that are against it, not 76%.

And if I remember correctly, GOM AOL was on TL calendar I can't say I remember it exactly, but how else would I be able to keep track of it if not TL calendar?!? Why is MLG getting a different treatment? Or are you saying this is how TL will operate from now on?

They are helping TL by paying for their players. I think it would be nice to see TL give back to MLG by at least listing the event on their calendar. I guess TL doesn't only want to see them pay for their players, but also want extra $$$ for a link on their site. I get your rules..but I think this event should be an exception. That does not make any sense at all. You completely different things in relation which just are not.

TL doesn't have to pay for their players to be at the event. They could give back to MLG by putting their stream on the calendar. I don't understand your last sentence...or your point.

Well its Don't like it, too expensive, won't pay (8769) 41% I don't mind them trying, but I won't pay (7327) 35% I'm undecided about it (2555) 12% Good idea, good value, will pay (1410) 7% ot too happy, but I'll pay anyway (1098) 5% Thats 41% + 35% that wont pay for sure, + 12% is undecided. that means 12% will surely buy it any maybe a 8% of the people who where undecided. according to the poll statistics 20% will pay and 80% wont pay ( with a like a 5% possible difference ).

You completely different things in relation which just are not. liquid (the team) and teamliquid.net (the site) are different things. Sure the site holds some bias for the team they share their name with, but the site has come a long way from the BW days (when liquid was a clan). This thread was more about the advertisement policy and to prevent organizations from using teamliquid.net and its users to benefit themselves, as well as add some guidelines for future events. It could also mean a subtle disapproval of MLG's PPV system as they will not show the stream. MLG paying for the players to fly to NYC is a different matter entirely.

Community dont like this , its to hard for you to understand.. get real.. Yes it was a really bad argument. Especially since your post had a well made one. Starcraft 2 is allready a game that requires quite a high socio economical standing to even play and this only furthers that gap which I think is bullshit. Not only are there kids that can't afford this cause they haven't got any money for their own. But there are a lot of people that simply don't have 20 bucks to throw around as they want. A LOT of people that could potentially really enjoy this kind of entertainment. So we are not only talking about viewers lost from the allready existing ones but also a huge ammount of potential viewers that just wont bother / can't possibly afford this kind of entertainment. Just look at how the FGC is thriving atm. One of their huge sucesses is the vast spread of nationalities and socio economic situations that viewers and players have. Those games are playable and watchable for way less money.

Secondly i want to remind fellow tl groupies that: mlg is NOT the alpha n` omega of esports as many think, DH and assembly are way way better in all the fields ,from organisation to streaming to public relations and as for the survivability of those two in contrast with mlg they just collect sponsors, advert and of course tickets from the visitors on location and they STILL have hq streams for FREE AND advertise on tl by paying thus spreading the wealth so to speak all over the community. Finally in support of tl i don`t understand why you need a link to a site asking you for money?if you wanna pay, find it yo self and pay up!I think is fantastic that tl doesn`t wanna associate with ppv events for free! I wasnot expecting that and i am extremely happy and proud for tl right now!!!! PPV is NOT the way to go and it will show...ppv is a win more state not a win state..... my 0.,02
