The Newcastle barcraft event for Homestory cup had an awesome atmosphere. So it's not like the crowds have died.. maybe they just didn't have the sound setup correct. I love hearing a crowd when I'm watching live, lets me know I'm not the only one that gives a shit.

and now youve crossed the line. this whole time ive been saying i have nothing against halo players, i am merely discussing why i dont enjoy it from my standpoint. god the blind halo patriotism from people is getting annoying What Halo patriotism? You basically asked"Lol so why do people like this? I like other games better because of my subjective reasons" and people answered. I only played Halo casually but I can see why some people would like it
i believe what i said is "i played this in grade7, and i cant watch it anymore. its a joke to me now"

I think its just that all that energy just affects you and makes it impossible not to watch. I figured I would watch a couple games maybe even watch finals or some of other big games but crowd was just so hyped that I found myself watching almost every game and only ever glancing at my sc2 monitor.

No, cheating was always prominent in Halo2. You can stop lying now. Ask anyone on any haloforum, nobody had a legit 45, they were at the very least bridging host. So there is no way you were a legit 44 and dont even remember your gamertag, only very skilled and dedicated players would even come close to this level.
A 44 in Halo2 would be comparable with low grandmaster in SC2, no way you can't remember your gamertag if you were that good.

DRG needs to vary his strats if he were to beat MKP. I know Z doesn't have many tools but he is way too predictable. In a Bo9, he could have attempted a 6-pool which might have caught greedy strats like the CC-first. In every game, MKP wasn't threatened or felt danger at all. Even when he wasn't rushing, he simply did what he wanted to do with absolute freedom. That early game advantage paid off hugely for him, let alone his imppecable unit control.
If only such tactics worked for his TvT (and to some extent TvP), MKP would be untouchable. But for now, and it has been for long time IMO, MKP is the king of TvZ.
Edit: Oh, and I do think DRG has lost some touch on ZvT as he's been focusing way too much on (his previously weak) ZvP of late.
actually they work even better versus protoss, thats why i consider him even better at tvp he pretty much stomped MC, Sase and Parting - and those guys (esp. Parting) have arguably the strongest pvt on the planet
tvt is definitely his weakness right now, but i think thats more because of the volatile nature of tvt

It sounds like you never played Halo 2. It was quite mechanically demanding, not only that it had a lot of strategic depth as well. Is it as twitchy as a Quake? No. Then again in quake you didn't have the quarks that made games like BW and Halo 2 so great. BxR, double shots, etc. were all never supposed to be part of the game -- they were glitches, glitches that made the game great by vastly increasing the skill ceiling. It took a lot of skill to pull off BxR into double shot for double and triple kills. It was always suspensful because at any time someone could pull off a sick triple or killtacular through sheer skill.
actually i played halo 2... for many years. and in my opinion, of the team fps games counter strike is the best.. but thats kindof beside the point. and they patched bxr didnt they? BxR was never patched to my knowledge hmm, i played like 3 months ago and im pretty sure it was patched. could be wrong though, ofc Didn't Halo 2 servers got shut down by MS? we played custom on lockout o-o Well point still is, unless you were at least decent at the game you have no way to judge how much skill it takes. Halo2 was an extremely skillful game, it took alot more skill to play halo2 at a mid-tier level than it takes to play SC2 or CS at a mid-tier level (by mid-tier I'd say top 5%). If you wanted to compete with mid-tier players in H2 you would have to practise the game for an entire year and that is only mid-tier, pros were like 10x better. I know this because I considered myself a mid-tier player in H2 and regularly got owned by pro players. i was what i would call "mid tier".. played some clan matches and whatnot.. and i think as a person who played it at a decent level i am able to judge its skill.. and no... its not even comparable to cs, or starcraft. those games are insanely hard at even a low level in comparison I played CS for a very long time and was decent at the game and it is alot easier to kill good players in CS than it is to kill good players in Halo2 and I am master league in SC2 (top 5% statistically) and I can tell you for a fact that it was miles easier to get into masters league in SC2 than it was to become a mid-tier player in Halo2 and I put alot more time into Halo2 than I put into SC2. What rank were you in THC? That would be interesting to know, if you claim to have been decent at the game then you should also be able to link your account. www.bungie.net (top right, H2 Gamertags) dude i havent personally owned an xbox in like... 3 years. i dont even remember the last nick i used alone.
TBH comparing how good you were at halo, how good you are SC2, and then drawing a comparison to prove which game is harder is gonna go no where. The games are based on different skillsets entirely .FPS in general is alot more hand-eye co-ordination and reflexs, where is RTS is strategy/multitasking/micro and such. Also, there are alot more variations in RTS games, because you have control over so much more resources, where is FPS's are based around your charecter, and perhaps up to 10 players total(competitvely speaking). I enjoy both FPS and RTS, but trying to compare the 2 based on 1 persons skills doesn't work

TvT has always been a little weird at the start. I figure as people get better at micro the MU will settle down and a lot less cheese and a lot more standard openings will happen and maybe then MKP can sort it as his best MU.
On a related note what was with everyone building Thors in TvZ on entombed? Do the players know something about that map that no one else noticed?

MarineKing, so far this year: 74% TvT (29-10) 61% TvZ (54-34) - in part due to 13 losses against DRG - without those 13 losses, he'd be 72% 83% TvP (48-10) overall 71% 131-54
chew on those numbers a bit and just see how much his vP and vT have improved.

No, absolutely everyone was cheating at the top level. Stop lying now because you obviously have never played Halo2. Or else just name one of your various high level accounts so I can look it up for myself. Liars are so annoying. Dude, I played at the high end of matchmaking ok and I was only mid-tier compared to pros and I can guarantee you that it was almost impossible to find a legit game at that level.

He predated Bomber as the original hidden gosu terran that all the hipster nerds wanted to see play. I am pretty sure Bomber was famous way earlier than Buyn was o.O Well you are wrong. Byun got second place in Code A well before anyone was hyping Bomber. Byun was also one of if not the first Terrans to use ghosts in TvZ. People were hyping Bomber pretty hard even in late 2010, buyn really was way later Byun got 2nd place in GSL Code A January 2011. Bomber didn't have a presence in GSL outside of Team League until Code A GSL May 2011. People were hyping Bomber before the first code A. He was the guy that people were talking about as the best player who hasnt qualified for the GSL. His first appearance in team league was a big deal because he was the code B player that people were saying was better than MVP.
Byun has huge potential, I can't really compare him to bomber because they have different playstyles. Bomber is more of a macro god, while Byun is way more consistent, and better at multitasking. I personally think Byun has more potential than Bomber, I said back when he was in Code S that sC and him were future GSL champion material.
