I don't care that any of you don't like me (Rifkin), but what I do care is how non-constructive the replies in this thread are. If you want to complain, you can still do so in such a way that's helpful (example: the guy complaining about the camera, while in a very immature manner, made it clear that even though I enjoyed the super zoom out, the audience might not and could adjust accordingly). There's zero reason for us to continue creating content for entitled posters who think tournaments are free, and talent should be a certain way. But hey let's just attack everyone who doesn't treat bw as the word of god even if they actively do something for the scene. Some weeks/months ago you already made sure another tournament holder won't do any more in the future. If that is really what you want keep being little children who complaint about a caster comparing bw to sc2, stating someone is "shitting on bw" when he simply doesn't worship it, etc. Unbelievable...

There's nothing wrong with asking for money, if you are nice about it and don't make it sound like you're guilt-tripping the viewers or holding your tournament for ransom or something. Here you go again with your messiah complex. No. Don't tell us what you think we need. If you're going to be so confrontational and pretend like you're doing the BW community some kind of massive favour by running this small cup and casting it poorly, then don't let the door hit you on the way out buddy. You do this all the fucking time in SC2, you run tournaments and then deflect all criticism with "oh but it's technically monetarily successful" and "you need this more than we need it". Why are you such a child Rifkin? To be entirely fair, the posters in the thread lashed out first. Also, he's right in one respect, the community needs talent more than talent needs the community, it's a complex that has never been understood by the bw community and may never be understood. It's the primary reason that there is a lack of foreign tournaments. With that being said, if you think their model is garbage, don't tune in, but I'm sure the players like to have events to play in even though the viewership perspective is slightly (or entirely) degraded. (I'm not saying the players are any better at withholding their opinions :p )

I don't think you can throw around the phrase "previously established scene" when the scene was dead up until a month ago. You don't like Rifkin? Whatever, you don't have to like every caster. Don't like people asking for money for another tournament? That's cool, but BaseTrade kinda runs like NPR, it requires financial support from its audience in order to create content. Since BW is such an "established scene," you should have no problem tuning into another stream of another BW tournament with other casters that are more to your liking.

Insulting the game you are casting is not a good idea, and doubly so if you are testing the waters for expanding into a new market with an established fanbase. No one said anything about bowing to the ground and groveling at the feet of the statue of BW, but not insulting it and showing at least some effort in trying to understand it would be a much appreciated start.

It must be sad to be so insecure that you figuratively barge into others' homes like this and talk shit about things you literally do not know or understand. Have fun kids.

It's also upsetting to see someone so insecure that one person giving what they think is an honest opinion turns into a huge thread flamewar. Brood War "scene" is very touchy on who should and shouldn't be in their scene. Who cares if they're from SC2 or not? I am too. And Heroes. Should I leave?

Have fun kids. Facts, not 'facts' Regarding the "demand" for more money: Are you going to still argue that this was anything other than a simple explanation of how we'd fund more SC:R content? Maybe you should just accept that your belligerent behaviour is wrong, and consider changing? Or not, really, you do you

Ok so you cannot point to anything, thanks i thought so. This has nothing to do with "sc2 people", the sheer fact that you think this is actually a good description of what is going on is telling. No actual arguments -> make this into bw vs sc2 yet again. A classic.
