I was in a clanwar today and was disqualified after I plagued someone's interceptors as they were firing at my hydras. They told me it was one of the "illegal maneuvers" in starcraft. Seriously, what the fuck.
I admit that I did it on purpose but I don't even think it's that hard to do it accidentally. Is this even a real rule or did I just get tricked? I can understand that hiding missile turrets under buildings is illegal because you undeniably have to "intentionally" perform it. This is even more true for stacked workers. You have to practice for like half and hour to get good at it. Things like that would never happen in a "real game." But how the hell is plaguing interceptors like any of that? I mean I can understand the arguments about how carriers are useless if the interceptors are plagued but seriously, how the hell do you distinguish between intentional/accidental plagues? What if I just happen to throw down a plague intended for the carriers but he moves away at the last second to dodge my plague and ends up getting his interceptors plagued instead?
So did I get tricked or is this a legit rule? If it is indeed a legit rule, then why doesn't everyone just say "accident" when they plague someone's interceptors?

it wasnt banned last i checked. just appeal on icc.com
|
it's allowed on iccup. So maybe use that as your argument.
but if whatever clanwar you're playing in specifically states that it's illegal... then it's illegal and you can't do anything about it, really.
|
Never heard of this rule, nor does it make any sense. Make an appeal.
|
Your opponent was several timezones ahead and it's just an april fools joke.
+ Show Spoiler +And there is no such rule. The lifted building trick is not banned either.
|
That's not banned...and if it is, it's perhaps the GAYEST rule I've ever heard of in competitive Starcraft
And IIRC neither is turrets under buildings...? Oh wait you mean a landed building...nvm
|
I have never heard of that being called illegal move. It is a spell that targets units and buildings and interceptors is a unit, you can even select them. Also your other examples like turret under buildings ect is also ok. Illegal moves are usually stuff such as ally mines, various flying drone things, freeze turrets with obs, cc slide. Dont know if you still can do some of those.
I'd say you were tricked or played with/vs retards.

no such rule -_-; you got jipped
|
Needs more info. Were these clan-specific rules? And if so, was any rationale given? If they're operating off just the standard ICCUP rules, then yeah, you got ripped.
|
Plaguing the interceptors? wtf? How is that in any way a legit rule. It in no ways creates an imbalance for either side.

well it's a good thing you forfeited anyway, because if he hadn't caught you on the no-plagueing interceptors rule, he surely would've got you on the you-can't-kill-my-carriers one

im going to start playing in a clan league where you cant storm hydras then.
|
iCCup Rules:
Bugs/tricks in game:
Allowed to use: — Plague on interceptor — Units pressed through — drops to defuse mines — Mineral walk — Manner Pylon — Lurker hold position
Not allowed to use: — Flying drones and templars — Terran sliding buildings — A bug which allows your units to remain stacked while moving/attacking — Allied mines — Intentional dropping lurker and SCV — defined by referee
So if it was played on iCCup you can argue legitly
And not to derail the thread but wtf is dropping lurker and scv? Never heard of that in my life.

What does plague on Interceptors do? Just bring them all down to 1hp so they 1shot die from hydras?

Plague on interceptor is specifically stated to be allowed? Why is it any different to normal units being plagued? Are the interceptors destroyed whenever they return to the carrier?
|
Funny thing is i'm sure i've seen plagued interceptors specifically stated as something that's 'legal' before. Yes after checking, it's specified as legal in the iccup ladder, and team league and iccup tournaments. So why is it in question?
